The Ohio State Buckeyes are facing off against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in their first home game of the season.

We have all breathed our collective sigh of relief, now that the Buckeyes have indeed slain Virginia Tech after nine months of anticipation. We now know who is starting at quarterback. And we have survived a contest without Joey Bosa and Jalin Marshall, among others. But now it is on to week two, and Ohio State’s first home game of the season.

Coming off a 42-42 win on the road at Virginia Tech, the Buckeyes are facing the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors in the two schools’ first-ever meeting on the football field. Ohio State has had a short week to prepare for Hawaii after playing a late game Monday night, but they are favored by 38 points nonetheless. It is expected to be a beat down, especially with the return of Bosa, Marshall, Dontre Wilson and Corey Smith.

For Hawaii, a win over the consensus No. 1 team in the country would be an improbable and nearly impossible feat. The Rainbow Warriors are coming off of a 28-20 win over a power-five conference opponent in Colorado, but Ohio State is an entirely different beast.

And what would this victory bring to Ohio State? It would bring them to 2-0 on the season, and would allow the team to settle into their roles as a full team with their returning starters back and with Braxton Miller fully-established as a receiver. A win by a large margin would help to bolster Ohio State’s ranking atop the AP Poll, as the Buckeyes are not facing a currently-ranked opponent until November.

Go Bucks.
