2027 4-star QB Brady Edmunds | via Dan Harker, 247Sports

The Buckeyes have been predicted as the favorites to land a four-star QB in the 2027 class. Ohio State men’s basketball also had a BOOMing start to the week.

Ohio State is officially 1-0 after a slow-starting, but still impressive, victory over the Akron Zips. With football back in Columbus, the Ohio State coaching staff is heavily focused on this year’s group of Buckeyes. Additionally, many of the headlines surround the football team are also focused on the current season.

However, recruiting never stops at Ohio State. Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff are always hitting the recruiting trail head first, whether that be through the transfer portal or the traditional recruiting route.

Because of this continued focus on recruiting, Ohio State holds claim to the No. 1 recruiting class in this current cycle. The Buckeyes also have gotten off to an early start in next year’s class, with a verbal commitment from 2026 five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr.

The Buckeyes are also looking even further into the future, and are recruiting multiple prospects in the 2027 class, and the work is paying off as the team is quickly gaining momentum for four-star quarterback Brady Edmunds (Huntington Beach, CA / Huntington Beach).

Ohio State offered Edmunds back in June, and has since kept in constant contact with him. In last August, 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins, cast a Crystal Ball prediction for Edmunds in favor of the Buckeyes.

On Monday, the momentum continued when On3 vice president and national college recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong cast a prediction for Edmunds in favor of the Buckeyes.

On3's @SWiltfong_ has logged an expert prediction for Ohio State to land elite 2027 QB Brady Edmunds

Edmunds ranks No. 14 NATL. (No. 2 QB) in the 2027 class.

It is early in the 2027 class, and because of this, there is no 247Sports Composite Rankings just yet. But 247Sports has Edmunds ranked as its No. 2 QB in the class and the No. 14 overall prospect. He is also the No. 2QB in his class by On3 and is the No. 16 overall prospect.

Edmunds has a chance to be another elite QB commit for the Buckeyes under Ryan Day, and the Buckeyes have to like where they sit with him early in his recruitment.

Basketball BOOOM!!!

In case you forgot, the Ohio State men’s basketball team led by Jake Diebler is also really good at recruiting, and is putting a focus on keeping Ohio’s best talent in-state.

The Buckeyes already have a verbal commitment in their 2025 class in four-star shooting guard Dorian Jones of Richmond Heights in Cleveland, Ohio. The Buckeyes now also hold commitments from two of the state’s top talents in the 2026 class, as power forward Alex Smith (Columbus, OH / Upper Arlington) committed to the Buckeyes on Monday, joining four-star point-guard Marcus Johnson of Garfield Heights in Cleveland Ohio.

Quick Hits

  • Ohio State will be back in Ohio Stadium this Saturday when Western Michigan travels to Columbus for the team’s first night game of the year. Buckeye Nation will not be alone Saturday either, as the team is looking to play host to more recruits Saturday.

The most recent recruit to add their name to the growing visitor list was 2027 Ohio offensive lineman, Reed Gerken (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg). It is early in the 2027 class, but Gerken looks like he could be the No. 1 OL in Ohio for his class.

I will be at THE Ohio State University this weekend! Thank you @etwill21 for the invite can't wait to be there! Go Bucks @CoachJFrye @CoachSollenne @ryandaytime @mickdwalker pic.twitter.com/DTmjutFNZC
