Over the holiday weekend, the Buckeyes made the cut for a five-star quarterback, and then received even more good news.

Ohio State’s football team had some time off this weekend for the holidays. While you have been busy spending time with family and loved ones, you may have missed the Buckeyes making the recruiting headlines. If so, there is no need to worry, as Land-Grant Holy Land has you covered.

Ohio State makes cut for 2026 5-star QB

Ohio State’s 2024 recruiting class is mostly wrapped up following the early signing period. The Buckeyes currently hold claim to the No. 6 class, according to 247Sports, with 20 commits that have signed their National Letters of Intent to play at Ohio State.

One of the biggest recruits in this class is five-star quarterback Air Noland. The incoming freshman will seemingly have his chance to start for the team next year, but returning signal callers Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz will do their best to hold him off. Additionally, four-star QB Tavien St. Clair out of Ohio is committed to the Buckeyes in their 2025 class.

With all of this current and future talent at QB, the Ohio State coaching staff has to like where it sits at the position. But, if there is one thing the Buckeyes have learned in recent years is that with NIL and the evolution of the transfer portal, nothing is ever a certainty. It is because of this the Buckeyes are already targeting the best at the position in the 2026 recruiting class, and over the holiday weekend, the Buckeyes received good tidings.

2026 five-star QB Jared Curtis released his top six schools, and Ohio State was one of those included.

Alongside the Buckeyes, Curtis included Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Texas A&M in his top schools.

The Buckeyes have long been recruiting Curtis, offering him in May. He has yet to make his way to campus for a recruiting visit, but expect the Buckeyes to do everything possible to get him on campus multiple times over the coming years.

While Curtis is officially down to six schools, it seems one team may have separated themselves from the pack, and that school is Ohio State. The same day Curtis released his top schools list, a 247Sports Crystal Ball prediction was made by 247Sports Director of Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, in favor of the Buckeyes.

These predictions are far from guarantees, but they do provide a great insight into what a recruit is feeling at a given time. Wiltfong is also one of the best at what he does, and when he casts a prediction, there is reason to believe it.

Additionally, it is believed that Curtis may try to end his recruitment early and commit to a program sooner-than-later. However, with NIL now a factor, recruitments never seem fully guaranteed until the LOI is signed — especially recruitments this far out. That being said, the Buckeyes have to love where they sit with Curtis.

Curtis is the No. 2 QB in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 20 overall prospect. He is also the No. 1 recruit out of Tennessee.
