The CB will be taking part in the prestigious Army All-American Bowl

Okudah hoists Army jersey

On Wednesday, long-time Ohio State target and 2017 cornerback Jeffrey Okudah (Grand Prairie, TX /South Grand Prairie) was honored by the Army All-American committee when they stopped by South Grand Prairie to give the 6-foot1, 190-pounder his Army Bowl jersey.

It should come as no surprise as to why Okudah was selected to participate in the prestigious event down in San Antonio inside of the Alamodome. Okudah is a tremendous talent from the Lone Star State and his rankings and offer sheets back it up.

Okudah is currently graded out as the sixth best player in the 2017 recruiting cycle. He also is listed as the No.1 CB in the country and the No.2 player from Texas behind ‘17 defensive tackle Marvin Wilson — another Ohio State target. On the offer table, Okudah has over 30 different schools wanting him to be part of their program.

The good news for the Buckeyes, outside of Okudah watching them dismantle Oklahoma this past weekend, is that they are widely thought of as the leader for the five-star prospect. Using the 247sports Crystal Ball prediction, Okudah is seen by an overwhelming majority to become a Buckeye.

If the Scarlet and Gray could reel in Okudah, it would obviously strengthen their lead as the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Also, it would give Ohio State 11 commits from 2017 participating in the All-American contest.

Offensive guard Wyatt Davis, running back J.K. Dobbins, DT Haskell Garrett, wide receiver Tyjon Lindsey, quarterback Tate Martell, offensive tackle Jake Moretti, OT Josh Myers, safety Isaiah Pryor and CB Shaun Wade are all listed as members of the upcoming game to represent the future of the Scarlet and Gray. Other Buckeye targets are also littered throughout the roster, so that number could increase.

Bucks impress Muhammad

As mentioned above, Oklahoma hosted Okudah on a visit this past weekend in Norman as they took on the Buckeyes. With that being said, Okudah wasn’t the only prospect who was on hand to watch the Ohio State beat down of the Sooners. 2018 tight end Mustapha Muhammad (Missouri City, TX / Ridge Point) was also roaming the sidelines on Saturday night to take in the game, and the Buckeyes display had the 6-foot-5, 235-pounder intrigued.

247Sports’ Bill Kurelic caught up with the Ridge Point (TX) standout to get some in-depth thoughts on the Buckeyes performance. “Ohio State came to play. They dominated,” Muhammad told Kurelic. “I liked their offense. If was very effective.”

The four-star Texan continued by saying “(Ohio State) was excited I was going to be there.” Muhammad also relayed that he spoke to Tim Hinton, Urban Meyer and Ed Warinner prior to the game.

It’s great for the Buckeyes to be able to make some noise with prospects despite not being on their own turf. However, after a display like that on Saturday, Muhammad is now ready to see what Ohio State’s campus has to offer. “I’m going to the Ohio State-Michigan game,” Muhammad concluded to Kurelic.

Not a bad game to attend, in my opinion.
