And just like that, Washington's Ohio State career is over
On Wednesday, it was reported that Ohio State senior defensive lineman Adolphus Washington had been cited for solicitation. Now, in a statement released from Ohio State, Washington's disciplinary status has been made clear. Per Urban Meyer, "Senior Adolphus Washington will be suspended from playing in Ohio State's upcoming bowl game for violating team policy." That means Washington's Ohio State career is now over.
The loss is a significant one for Ohio State, as Washington had put together an excellent season for the Buckeyes. He's recorded 49 total tackles, including 23 solo tackles, and four sacks. Washington also has an interception and a fumble recovery on the season. The Buckeyes have some depth along the defensive line, but his absence will be missed, both in Ohio State's "Rushman" package, and on run defense, which will be important against Notre Dame.
Washington was thought to be a high round NFL draft prospect, and it will remain to be seen how much this incident could impact his draft stock.
