Ohio State still No. 3 in the latest College Football Playoff Top 25

Despite a poor showing against Minnesota, Ohio State remains in the top four this week.
The second College Football Playoff Top 25 was revealed Tuesday night, and the Ohio State Buckeyes were still ranked No. 3. The expected suspects were included in the top four with the Buckeyes, which consisted of Clemson, Alabama, and Notre Dame.
Clemson further showed us this past weekend why they are the top ranked team in the nation, after defeating Florida State in Death Valley by a score of 23-13. It is arguably their second best win of the season, behind their early October victory over Notre Dame.
Alabama is coming off an impressive 30-16 victory over previously ranked No. 2 LSU, where they shut down then-Heisman frontrunner Leonard Fournette, holding him to 31 yards on 19 carries. Derrick Henry catapulted his way as the Heisman favorite, rushing for 210 yards and three touchdowns.
The Buckeyes had perhaps their second worst performance of the season this past Saturday against Minnesota at home, where they were without recently crowned starter J.T. Barrett due to his suspension for OVI during the team's bye week. While the game was never necessarily in doubt, the Buckeyes didn't really look the part of an elite team, which has seemingly been a continuing trend.
Notre Dame went into Pittsburgh this past weekend and beat the Panthers by a score of 42-30. While not their most impressive win, the Irish have had one of the better showing across the season among teams contending for a national title. Their biggest test will come in the final week of the season, when they have to travel to Stanford.
This is the second week of the second year of this poll, and it seems we are still learning what the committee puts the most weight on when it comes to ranking the teams. Looking outside of the top four, and through the top 10 gives a much better perspective in that regard.
