The Buckeyes hosted more than just the Gophers this weekend.

While it wasn't Ohio State's biggest recruiting weekend of the year, a number of solid prospects still made the trip to Columbus for the Buckeyes' matchup against the Golden Gophers of Minnesota. Headlining the list of recruits who watched OSU runaway to their ninth win of the season on Saturday was class of 2016 standout linebacker Daelin Hayes.

Hayes is a former USC pledge who suits up at Skyline High in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He's not only high on Ohio State, but also programs such as Notre Dame, Michigan State, LSU, and Oregon. Having already officially visited Notre Dame, his time in Columbus gave him a chance to spend time with Urban Meyer and see exactly what being a Buckeye is all about before he goes on his official visits to the aforementioned schools.

Ohio State is looking to add their final pieces to the class of 2016 puzzle. Hayes would look good in the Scarlet and Gray, but at the moment many around the scene have the four-star talent pegged to continue his playing days on the next level at Notre Dame.

With the way recruiting goes, especially under Meyer, things could change in a hurry. Hayes' recruitment should definitely be one to keep an eye on. In the meantime check out his high school highlights, courtesy of the crew at Hudl:

2017 prospects take in win

Hayes wasn't the only Michigan native to check out Ohio State over the weekend: so did quite a few class of 2017 prospects from the state up north. Safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell (Detroit/Cass Tech), fellow defensive backs Ambry Thomas (Detroit/King), and Donovan Johnson (Detroit/Cass Tech) all made the trek down to Columbus to watch the Buckeyes under the lights.

"It was a good visit. We got there a little late (middle of the 2nd quarter), but we enjoyed ourselves. I usually come with my parents or coaches, this time I got to enjoy it with Ambry Thomas and Donovan Johnson. We stayed overnight and I had a chance to catch up with my Cass Tech big brothers (Damon Webb, Mike Weber, and Josh Alabi)," Kelly-Powell told Land-Grant Holy Land.

During his time on campus Jaylen also had a few minutes with Buckeye assistant coaches Kerry Coombs and Chris Ash.

"(I talked with) Coach Coombs and Coach Ash. We just talked football and what they did in the game. It was a great atmosphere and a great birthday for Brutus," he added about his time at OSU.

Both Kelly-Powell and Thomas hold offers from the Buckeyes while Johnson, who reportedly has scholarships on the table from the likes of Cincinnati, and Tennessee, has yet to receive his chance suit up for Ohio State.

Junior tight ends Matt Dotson (Cincinnati/Moeller), Keegan Cossou (Greenville, MI/Senior), and class of 2019 athlete MJ Griffin (Belleville, MI/Belleville) were also among the recruits roaming Ohio Stadium on Saturday night.
