After losing out on a top defensive tackle prospect, don't expect Ohio State to do anything but move on towards the next target on their board.

Make no mistake about it: yesterday was a disappointment recruiting-wise for Ohio State. However, with Urban Meyer and the cachet that The Ohio State University carries, recruiting will always have more ups than downs in Columbus. With under three weeks until Ohio State takes on Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, look for the Ohio State staff to switch their focus to preparing for a bowl game. However, Meyer and crew will continue to stay on the top of their game all of the way up until signing day in February.

Jackson picks Auburn over OSU

In case you missed it, yesterday a long fight came to an end as Georgia product Antwuan Jackson selected Auburn University over Ohio State as the destination where he will play his collegiate football. The 4-star DT and eighth best prospect at his position in the country for the class of 2016 was a definite priority for the Buckeyes, as the defensive tackle position is one of need at Ohio State.

Losing out on Jackson hurts due to the fact that Urban Meyer and Larry Johnson especially put an immense amount of time in building the relationship with Antwuan and his family. Even though there was more than just mutual interest between Jackson and Ohio State, the fact is, Antwuan had visited Auburn almost ten times and had a familiarity with the coaching staff and their program. Unfortunately, in recruiting, distance many times is the key factor.

Jeter places Bucks in top 8

In some positive news regarding the defensive tackle position, last night, 2017 prospect Donovan Jeter placed Ohio State in his top 8 schools. Jeter, a Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania product, is currently ranked as the state's tenth best player overall and the sixteenth best player at his position for the 2017 class according to 247sports. With a 6'4, 260-pound frame as a junior in high school, it's no doubt why so many schools have already thrown their hat into the ring offering Jeter a scholarship. With offers from the likes of Penn State, Michigan State, Pitt, Tennessee, and Ohio State, look for Jeter to be a well-known name on the recruiting trail for the Buckeyes in the near future.

Again, thanks to all the schools that offered me.. This list can change but here is the TOP 8pic.twitter.com/uqLFr1YFCe

Walker announces commitment, again

It was this past January during halftime of Ohio State's national championship victory over Oregon when Kareem Walker committed to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes. Fast forward to the present and it's funny how things have changed. Yesterday, the onetime Ohio State 2016 pledge gave his second verbal commitment to Ohio State's most hated rival, the Michigan Wolverines.

Kareem is currently the nation's top running back in the 2016 class, per 247sports, and the second best prospect out of his home state, New Jersey. In the recruiting world things can change in a hurry. Many times a verbal commitment doesn't guarantee that the player will stick. However, Ohio State isn't hurting in the running backs department with the 2016 class as they have pledges from both Antonio Williams of New London, North Carolina and Demario McCall of North Ridgeville, Ohio.

Williams reaches out to Haskins

Speaking of Antonio Williams, yesterday, per his Twitter account, Antonio did some reaching out to current Maryland quarterback commit Dwayne Haskins. As of recently, Haskins has been a very popular subject for Ohio State recruiting. A onetime heavy lean towards Ohio State, Haskins chose to give his verbal to the home state Maryland Terrapins. However, with the events of new coach DJ Durkin taking over Maryland and the recent decommitment of Tristen Wallace from Ohio State, it looks as if signs are pointing toward Haskins once again as the quarterback for the 2016 class. One thing is for sure, future Ohio State RB Antonio Williams has no problem voicing his opinion on Haskins and Ohio State.

Truth from a guy we need to be a buckeye. All of #BuckeyeNation give him a follow! ❗⭕ https://t.co/FtGjjfAGTh
