Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - Pair of future Buckeyes shine in title game

The regular season has concluded, but the Buckeye staff is still working to build for the future.
With the conclusion of the regular season, Ohio State's coaching staff will be out of Columbus and visiting recruits at their schools every chance they can. With this, it can be seen two ways. For one, it's great that the coaching staff can hit the recruiting trails and continue to add to the nation's top classes in both 2016 and 2017, but it's also a bummer Ohio State is not preparing for the Big Ten Championship game this Saturday. However, with some serious luck and the ball bouncing the Buckeyes' way, there may still be hope for the good guys to have a chance to land one of the four playoff slots. Time will tell.
Davis, Corley earn Player of the Year awards
Ohio State knew exactly what they were getting when Virginia native Wayne Davis gave the Buckeyes his verbal commitment. After an incredible season, Ohio State fans can see for themselves what the staff knew all along. Yesterday, Gatorade released the list of players that were selected as the Player of the Year in their respective state. Great news for himself and Ohio State was received when Davis was named Virginia's Gatorade Player of the Year. A very impressive accomplishment for Davis, Wayne has boasted quite the senior football season. This prestigious award is well definitely well deserved.

In sticking with the accolades theme, Detroit, Michigan product and recent state champion of Detroit Martin Luther King Jr. High, Donnie Corley was named Michigan's player of the year. Yesterday it was announced and that continued success for Donnie has been very prevalent the past week or so. In his state championship game this past weekend, Corley made an incredible last second catch in the end zone giving his school a state title over the Red Arrows of Lowell High School in Michigan's division two championship game.
To go along with a very impressive day for Corley, coaches Kerry Coombs and Zach Smith were able to visit Corley for his exciting day. While accepting the award, Donnie boasted an Ohio State sweatshirt. Make of this what you will, but Ohio State definitely wants to add at least one more pure receiver in the 2016 class and Donnie would certainly be welcomed with open arms if that was his desire. As things stand right now, Michigan State looks to be the favorite, but as we know, with Urban Meyer at the helm, anything is possible.

Last night Ohio kicked off its high school football state final games and on opening night, two future Buckeye players played in the division three state championship. Danny Clark and Todd Sibley of Akron, Ohio's Archbishop Hoban faced off against Toledo Central Catholic and did nothing but impress. With future coach Urban Meyer in attendance the dynamic duo raced off to help their team to their first ever state title by defeating Toledo Central Catholic by a score of 33-20. A memorable night for the two for sure, but they still have yet another season with the Knights of Archbishop Hoban.
Future Buckeye Todd Sibley had 107 yards on 13 carries and two TD's in first half. Averaged 8.2 yards per carry.

In attendance last Saturday for Ohio State's rout against Michigan was New Jersey's top defensive tackle prospect, Fred Hansard. Covered quite a bit as of late, Fred has really seen his recruitment take off this season. The 2017 prospect has been receiving attention left and right and that was no different yesterday as Ohio State was again in person to visit Fred in New Jersey at his high school. An obvious position of need, Urban Meyer and Larry Johnson would love to add Hansard to the mix for 2017, but there's still nothing but time for Fred to weigh his options. As for now, Ohio State definitely is in the mix for his top schools.
