Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - New DC Greg Schiano working on Jordan Fuller

Greg Schiano is making his impact felt on the recruiting trail by working to close on Jordan Fuller.
With bowl practice underway, the current freshmen on campus are getting their chance to shine, by eating up valuable reps that they weren't able to accumulate during the regular season. The Ohio State coaching staff is not in full bowl prep mode just yet, so they have plenty of time to hit the recruiting trail this week.

Though we don't know to what extent and how things are trending just yet, according to reports, newly hired defensive coordinator Greg Schiano is seemingly taking the lead for recruiting Jordan Fuller. Dating back to last spring and the early summer months, most people had Jordan Fuller penciled into this year's Ohio State class. The Buckeyes were in the lead and had all of the momentum after multiple visits from the four-star defensive back. However, as fall arrived, things began to look less optimistic each and every week and now the Buckeyes are playing from behind with the prospect from New Jersey.
Situations have changed, though, as we know. Insert Greg Schiano into the mix and this could be what Ohio State needs to create a spark in Fuller's recruitment. Schiano is not just a great football coach, but he excels at recruiting and has strong ties to the East Coast from his days at Rutgers. Though he won't be coaching in the bowl game, Schiano seems to be making his impact felt already. If Ohio State ends up winning this recruiting battle, Schiano will have played a major role in beating out Rutgers, Notre Dame, and Penn State.

Bucks' 2017 class rollin'
When it comes to Buckeye Nation, though winning on the field is the most important thing, there is a ton of fans out there also concerned with winning the mythical recruiting national championships. Well, when it comes Rivals, Ohio State's 2017 class is rolling right along with top talent galore. This could be an extremely scary class when it's all said and done in a few years. Below, you can see how Ohio State is stacking up with the rest of the country as well as the other Big Ten teams.

OSU cracks 2 top-10 lists
The Buckeyes got good, if unsurprising news from two prospects on Tuesday. The first came from Isaiah Wilson, a five-star offensive lineman from Brooklyn. The 2017 tackle, who stands an imposing 6'7 and weighs in at 322 pounds, named Ohio State to his top 10, adding the Buckeyes to a list that also includes Michigan, Michigan State, LSU, Alabama, and several other prominent programs. Wilson intimated in later tweets that the published list is not in order, so there's little to be gleaned from it other than the programs in contention. The 247Sports Crystal Ball actually has Wilson pegged to be either a Rutgers Scarlet Knight or a Michigan Wolverine, so it was a little surprising to see Chris Ash's new team not crack the list.
The other news came courtesy of Jerry Jeudy, a 2017 wide receiver prospect out of Pompano Beach, FL. Jeudy also named the Buckeyes to his top 10, publishing an alphabetized list of his potential destinations to Twitter. The Crystal Ball likes Alabama to win Jeudy's services when all is said and done, but the Crimson Tide will have to contend with the likes of OSU, Auburn, Clemson. Florida State, and several other top-tier programs. Jeudy is a four-star recruit who will look to add a little size to his 6'1, 174-pound frame when he hits college.
