The Buckeyes could potentially be in the mix for a defensive back committed elsewhere

Another week, another win for Ohio State. The Buckeyes are 10-0 as they continue to keep their undefeated streak alive heading into two behemoth games for Urban Meyer and his squad as they host Michigan State and then travel to Ann Arbor to face Michigan. In the meantime, however, Ohio State must also stay focused on the recruiting field, if the team wants to finish in the top five in recruiting classes.

While flipping a recruit is extremely difficult to do, Urban Meyer is one of the best at it, and he and the rest of the coaching staff feel as if they have a shot at landing '16 defensive back Patrice Rene. The 6'2, 190-pound Rene is already currently committed to Rutgers, and has been since Aug. 8. The Buckeyes were one of the early teams to send Rene an official offer and he even attended Friday Night Lights back in July. Other offers include Duke, Indiana, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin, among others.

Rene is rated as a three-star in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is ranked as the nation's 37th best cornerback and 11th best prospect at any position from the state of Virginia. While Rene remains strongly committed to the Scarlet Knights for now, Rene appears to want to take official visits to schools - including Ohio State. In fact, Rene could potentially visit Columbus this weekend as the Buckeyes prepare for their final home game of the season against Michigan State.

There hasn't been anything set in stone in regards to that visit, though it's certainly a possibility. If the Buckeyes were to somehow end up with Rene as a part of the 2016 recruiting class, he would be only the second defensive back in the class alongside Wayne Davis, another cornerback.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball experts don't think Rene will end up being anything other than a Scarlet Knight at this point, but anything is possible:

We'll be sure to update any happenings in Rene's recruitment over the next couple of weeks.
