Get the latest on both Ohio State RB commits in the 2016 recruiting class.

Walker updates recruitment

The latest development in the interesting recruitment of '16 RB Kareem Walker occurred on Wednesday when the New Jersey standout out released a statement via ESPN's Tom VanHaaren about his status with Ohio State and where things will go from here.

As you can see, Walker mentions four programs that he will officially visit -- Alabama, Arizona State, Mississippi, and Ohio State. Not that anyone forgets, but Walker has already taken one official visit and that was to Ann Arbor to watch Michigan take on Northwestern. The good news for the Buckeyes is that Walker did not quickly react to the news of another RB commitment, he sat back and thought everything over, and stated that he is still an OSU commit at this time. It's also not a bad sign that Ohio State will get the last opportunity to keep Walker from going elsewhere. Will the Buckeyes ultimately wind up with two RB's in the class? We will have to wait and see.

Williams speaks on OSU pledge

Last weekend, Ohio State took on the Nittany Lions in The Horseshoe and '16 RB Antonio Williams was in attendance to watch the victory for the Buckeyes. The next day, the 5'11, 210-pounder ended the recruiting process by giving his verbal pledge to head coach Urban Meyer and the Scarlet and Gray.

"The thing that sold me is the fact that the coaches care more about you as a person than they do as a football player. OSU is also a place where academics are stressed on the football team and that is HUGE for me. Another positive was it was better for me and my family knowing that the trip to Columbus isn't too bad of a drive. With everything weighed out, and the opportunities that God had laid in front of me, I would have been a fool not to accept and become a Buckeye," Williams said.

Another sizable reason that Williams chose Ohio State was running backs coach Tony Alford, who is a first year member of the Buckeye coaching staff.

"Coach Alford and I date back to when he was at ND. I loved him then but I just didn't feel ND was the place for me. When he came to OSU I took notice and just kind of sat back and watched. Coach Alford has become a household name for my family and we, as a family, talk to him regularly. He got to know me at a level that no other coach did and a plus to all this is he's one of, if not the best running back coach in the country," added Williams.

As for Walker, Williams mentioned that he would be fine with a scenario that included both him and the DePaul Catholic (NJ) star as members of Ohio State's 2016 recruiting class, but he simply felt it was best to not go in-depth on the situation, and rightfully so.

"I really do not feel that the Walker situation is my business, that is between he and the coaches and I am not intervened in that situation," Williams said. The latest OSU commit added that he has yet to speak to Walker at this time.
