Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes just offered '17 Alabama RB commit Cam Akers.
It has been a busy last couple of weeks for Buckeye recruiting, as Urban Meyer and the rest of the Ohio State recruiting staff have been on the attack. It began last week when the Buckeyes sent a scholarship offer to current Oklahoma commit '16 LB Bryce Youngquist. Just this Tuesday, OSU offered current USC '16 LB Mique Juarez and the trend continued again Thursday when Ohio State offered '17 RB Cam Akers, who is currently committed to Alabama.
The timing of the offer is interesting, as Akers committed to the Crimson Tide just last month, but it is understandable why Meyer wants the four-star RB to play for the Buckeyes.
Akers is currently one of the top 5 RBs of his class and is the highest rated recruit out of his home state of Mississippi, according to 247sports. He has the natural ability to make defenders miss and has the speed to outrun them. He has the talent to one day be a starter for the Buckeyes and could thrive in Meyer's infamous H-Back position. He also has experience lining up at QB out of the Wildcat, which has been a popular play for current Buckeye H-Back Braxton Miller.
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are still the favorites to land Akers, but Alabama isn't the only competition for OSU. Akers has offers lined up from schools across the nation, including some big name programs from his home state in Ole Miss and Mississippi State. It would be surprising to see Akers join the Buckeyes, but it wouldn't be the first time Meyer has flipped a recruit.

If you are looking for something to do Saturday before Ohio State takes on Western Michigan, look no further than this week's matchup between Cass Tech and Martin Luther King out of Detroit, Michigan. One of the most anticipated games of the season will kickoff at noon and will feature two big recruits for the Buckeyes in '17 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones (Cass Tech.) and '16 WR Donnie Corley (MLK).
Both Peoples-Jones and Corley are four-star WRs and would be a big grab for Meyer and the Buckeyes, but Peoples-Jones is the star of the show. Rated as the No. 2 WR of his class and boasting offers from almost every school in the country, People-Jones has been predicted to be an OSU lean for some time now.
Corley, on the other hand, will likely choose to play for either Michigan or Michigan State. However, he hasn't officially ruled the Buckeyes out and attended Ohio State's Friday Night Light's camp in July.
This game will be telling for Buckeye Nation, as there is a good chance they will be seeing these two guys play on Saturdays in the near future. Whether or not they will be wearing Scarlet and Gray is the question.
U.S. Army All-American Bowl Tour features Ohio State recruits
The USAAAB Tour is a 10-week event that holds pep rallies for every U.S. Army All-American and has already featured some Buckeye recruits.
Buckeye '16 four-star commit Demario McCall was welcomed as a member of the 2016 Army Bowl class.

McCall wasn't the only Ohio State recruit featured at the event as a current Buckeye '16 four-star DT signed a Xenith Football helmet that will be given to U.S. Army Soldiers.
