Ohio State is a day away from a game that could double as the headline event of the recruiting season.

It's the calm before the storm. Dark Night in The Shoe is fast approaching and prospects from all over the country will be on site to view Ohio State as they take on Penn State under the lights Saturday night. In what will be the greatest atmosphere this season up to this point, recruits on hand will surely be overcome by Ohio State's game day scene. This game has the potential to impact many of the nation's top prospects' recruiting processes.

Davis heading back to OSU

Wayne Davis, a 2016 Buckeye commit since this past summer, is making his way back to Columbus for the "black-out" game against the Nittany Lions. Davis, a Norfolk, Virginia product, is a 4-star cornerback and gave his verbal to Ohio State this July. The 5'11, 190-pound corner is currently ranked as a top-10 player in the state of Virginia for the 2016 class, according to 247sports. Davis has put up stellar stats so far this fall for his Lake Taylor High School team and Meyer and staff know exactly what type of playmaker Davis is on the field.

Ford ready to make college decision

The 2017 defensive back recruiting scene is one that the Buckeyes already have a lot of success with. However, Ohio State would love to add to the playmakers they already possess. Last night, via his Twitter account, 2017 safety prospect Paris Ford let it be known that later today he will be announcing his college decision. The 6'1, 180-pound safety out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is ranked as a 4-star prospect, the third-best player in the state of Pennsylvania, and the sixth-best prospect at his position in 2017, according to 247sports. Ohio State currently has a top safety already committed in the 2017 class in Georgia's Isaiah Pryor, but again, the Buckeyes rarely turn away prospects of Ford's caliber if he wished to give the Buckeyes his pledge. As of right now, Notre Dame and Pitt lead the way with Ohio State trailing in the 247sports crystal ball predictions.

I will be committing tomorrow.... Sat down and had a talk with my family and WE feel comfortable about it. Thank God for every opportunity

The visitor list continues to grow

To stay with the trend of talking about Pennsylvania defensive back prospects, Khaleke Hudson, a 2016 McKeesport, Pennsylvania product will also be making his way to Columbus for the Penn State matchup. Currently ranked as a three-star recruit, Hudson holds offers from Virginia Tech, Penn State, Pittsburgh and others. While he does not currently own an offer from Ohio State, the unofficial visit he will make this weekend may be a step in that direction. The 5'11, 200-pound defensive back is ranked by 247sports as a top forty athlete for his position and the 14th-best prospect in the state of Pennsylvania for 2016.
