Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets - Antwuan Jackson to visit, Javon McKinley won't

One of the country's top defensive talents will visit Columbus this weekend.
The Buckeyes started the season off Monday night in style. It's a hectic upcoming week with the team and coaches getting home early Tuesday morning and Hawaii coming to town on Saturday. Still, coaches were able to keep up on the recruiting trail, because building for the future is always a priority.
Antwuan Jackson to visit
Per Rivals.com's Marc Givler, 4-star defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson will be making an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend. Jackson, out of Cedar Grove, Georgia, would add some serious heft to an already imposing 2016 recruiting class. The 6'2, 285-pound prospect has received offers from the likes of Auburn, South Carolina, and Alabama, as well as Ohio State.
While the 247Sports Crystal Ball currently has Jackson leaning towards Auburn, it's far too early to count the Buckeyes out of this one. Jackson's recruitment is in the hands of Kerry Coombs, the king of planting flags out of state, as well as defensive line coach Larry Johnson, another hard man to say no to, so it's hard not to like Ohio State's odds here. Stay tuned for updates as Jackson's visit progresses this weekend.

Looking ahead to the class of 2017, the state of Ohio is home to four-star athlete Tyrell Ajian. Ajian has six offers as we stand right now, including one from Notre Dame, and passes the eye-test at 6'1, 185 pounds. He started both ways, as a wide receiver/defensive back, for Madison High School as a sophomore a season ago. Ajian looks to be a wide receiver at the next level and on most years would be in line to earn an offer from the Buckeyes. Next year's recruiting cycle isn't normal though, from a wide receiver standpoint. Ohio State is in on a handful of top WR prospects and if Ajian wants in, he'll have to go earn it on the field and next summer. It's tough to see such an in-state talent possibly be left out of a class, but that's a reality with how the Buckeyes are recruiting. Look for Ajian to take the top off his competition this year and gain more national interest as we move more into the fall.

McKinley cancels on OSU
2016 wide receiver Javon McKinley, from Corona High School in California, has decided that he will not be making an official visit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes and McKinley had some interest in each other throughout his process, but he decided that his relationships were stronger with Washington and thus has decided to replace Columbus with the Pacific Northwest. McKinley, who checks in at 6'2 200 pounds, is a four-star prospect and the number 18 rated WR in the country. Unless one of the big-time targets jumps in this class, it looks like Austin Mack will be the only WR in the year's cycle. This one was a long shot in the first place and won't affect Ohio State's class going forward.
