Ohio State is in the mix for one of the top 2017 prospects in the Midwest.

When you're a top notch program year in and year out, recruits take notice. After making the top lists of numerous elite prospects over the last few weeks, the Buckeyes learned they are in the mix for another high school standout this weekend. On Saturday afternoon, 2017 wide receiver Hunter Rison took to his Twitter page to announce the top five schools involved in his recruitment.

Via the social media site, Hunter, the son of former NFL wide out Andre Rison, tweeted he is currently considering suiting up for UCLA, Arizona State, Alabama, Ohio State, and Michigan State, where he was formally verbally committed.

A four-star prospect from Skyline High School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Rison, is pegged as the 44th wide receiver, and 293rd overall prospect in the class of 2017, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Receiving his offer from the Buckeyes coaching staff earlier this month, Ohio State might be the new kids on the block, but look to be a major contender in Rison's recently reopened recruitment. Oden high on OSU

The Buckeyes are on the hunt for a class of 2016 quarterback. One of the options Ohio State is highly considering bringing into the fold is current Louisville pledge Tylin Oden.

Although he stated he is 75% sure he will sign his letter of intent with the Cardinals, the 6'5, 190-pound signal caller told the Courier-Journal that Ohio State could be one of the programs to shake things up a bit.

"It's just a blessing to be recruited by Ohio State. Not a lot of kids from where I'm from get the opportunity to do that, so it's definitely something I look forward to and I'll treasure for the rest of my life. I mean it's Ohio State. So it would be a game-changer, but I still have to see what they've got going on and how they can help me and benefit me," the three-star prospect said.

Yet to receive an offer from the Buckeyes, Oden will reportedly take an official visit to Ohio State during the live period next month. Other than the Cardinals and Buckeyes, Virginia Tech, Florida and Oregon are a few of the other programs the Tennessee native is considering.

Quick Hits

  • According to Bill Kurelic of Bucknuts, Ohio State could soon host one of the top class of 2017 running backs in the country. Current Alabama pledge Najee Harris is eyeing a visit to Columbus in the coming months per Kurelic's report. Harris, a 6'2 220-pound five-star recruit has been verbally committed to Alabama since April, but has stated he is open to any program interested in recruiting him. As a junior, the Antioch, California native rushed for over 2,700 yards and 36 touchdowns.
  • We are nearly a month away from national signing day. With spots in the Ohio State class of 2016 filling up fast, the Buckeyes have their eyes on adding a few more highly rated prospects on the offensive side of the ball.
