Michigan native Avery Gach has his decision date set for Friday, May 3.
It’s finally here! NFL Draft day has come, and it’s been a long time coming at that. One of the greatest tools in Ohio State recruiting pitches, tonight will once again have the Buckeyes further cementing their legacy as one of the top programs in the country when it comes to producing and developing NFL talents.
Sure, it’s not the total end-all-be-all for this coaching staff, but it will continue to be a major pitch Ryan Day and company continue to use when recruiting the best players in the country to be the next in line and continue on the great tradition of Ohio State players to see NFL success.
Ohio State’s 2025 class is off to an incredible start. The top-ranked class in the country per 247Sports, the Buckeyes have done a great job at landing several of the nation’s best recruits. Fortunately for the staff and class overall, there’s plenty of top guys still out there these coaches have a great chance at. Offensively or defensively, the 2025 haul has plenty to be excited about, and more should follow in the near future.
If there is one position the Buckeyes could use some more good news at, it’s along the offensive line. In-state product Carter Lowe being the lone commit right now isn’t a major issue, but it wouldn’t be truth telling if it was said that the staff is content with where they’re currently at.
Justin Frye needs this class to be a successful one, and though it’s tough in general to land elite offensive lineman — especially at the tackle spot — this fanbase and program doesn’t care for excuses. Frye needs to get the job done this cycle one way or another.
Knowing there’s a handful of elite targets still out there the Buckeyes are in a solid place for, on Wednesday it was made known that Michigan native Avery Gach would be announcing his decision next Friday, May 3, and doing so among just four remaining schools on his list.
The No. 240 player nationally and 16th best interior lineman per the 247Sports Composite, Gach is down to just Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. A 6-foot-5, 290 pound athlete, Avery is the second best player in his home state for the 2025 cycle, and being just over an hour from both Michigan and Michigan State, it’s easy to see why both of the in-state schools are on his short list.
As for where the Buckeyes stand, Gach has been to Ohio State to see the Buckeyes, and has made it no secret that he enjoyed his time seeing the program. Unfortunately, right now the Wolverines look to be in the best position to keep him close to home, and next Friday will tell all in regards to where he is going to end up.
It may not be a positive for Ohio State, but anything can happen in recruiting, even if the tea leaves are reading elsewhere.
A class that should eventually see at least two running backs in the fold, the Buckeyes and Locklyn would love to start it off with Jordon and continue it on with the in-state products Bo Jackson and Marquise Davis. As for now, the Buckeyes look to be in good shape for Davison.
Doing his best to try and help land the elite playmakers the staff is still after, it’s pretty fun to see the Sanchez family taking it on themselves to further help and do their part to show off all that Ohio State has to offer.
From the names seen below, clearly Mr. Sanchez has the same recruiting big board the Buckeyes do.

OSU offensive line target set to announce decision

Quick Hits
- The running back position is going to continue to sort itself out as new coach Carlos Locklyn gets further acclimated in Columbus, but California native Jordon Davison continues to be a name that’s linked to Ohio State and their 2025 class. The No. 97 player nationally and seventh best running back in the class per the 247Sports Composite, it’s now On3’s predictions that are seeing Davison pegged to Ohio State.
A class that should eventually see at least two running backs in the fold, the Buckeyes and Locklyn would love to start it off with Jordon and continue it on with the in-state products Bo Jackson and Marquise Davis. As for now, the Buckeyes look to be in good shape for Davison.
- We see all the time how active Ohio State commits are in the peer recruiting on social media, but it’s probably never been more prevalent for a parent to do so than Daniel Sanchez. The father of five-star defensive back commit Devin Sanchez, Daniel is on social media daily pitching Ohio State and why the Buckeyes are the program to join.
Doing his best to try and help land the elite playmakers the staff is still after, it’s pretty fun to see the Sanchez family taking it on themselves to further help and do their part to show off all that Ohio State has to offer.
