The Buckeyes are still offering new names as they prepare for a loaded month of June, which kicks off this coming weekend.
You’d be hard-pressed to find another time where Ohio State’s staff was offering more players than they are right now. Staying busy on the recruiting trail, the Buckeyes have been evaluating and offering new names for weeks, and Wednesday was no different as another top prospect in the 2027 class shared the latest news of Ohio State officially entering his recruitment.
Taking to social media to announce his latest offer, Georgia native Kamarui Dorsey was on the receiving end. Checking in at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, Dorsey is currently the No. 47 player nationally and third best linebacker in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite. Additionally, he holds over 20 offers to back his highly-touted four-star ranking.
Schools such as Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and a host of others were earlier to the party, but Ohio State now in the running could call for even more of the top programs to follow suit. Regardless, another top-ranked Georgia native at the linebacker spot fits the trend for what the Buckeyes are looking for on the defensive side of the ball.
From here, position coach James Laurinaitis will continue building the relationship, and the goal will be to get him to Columbus sooner rather than later. A full June of major recruiting opportunities ahead, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the staff push for him to make the trek in the coming weeks.
The theme surrounding the month of June is nothing but recruiting. Set to be their busiest recruiting period of the summer, for a few years now the Buckeyes have leaned on this timeframe each cycle to build their classes and host their top targets from all over the country.
Much of the same in the coming days, this coaching staff is gearing up for what will be a non-stop effort to build not only this 2026 class, but the future classes as well. Kicking things off with one of their biggest visitors of the month, Virginia native running back target Savion Hiter will make his official visit this coming weekend in Columbus to see Ohio State once more.
The No. 17 player nationally and the top running back per the 247Sprts Composite, Hiter has long been a priority for the program. Making multiple trips to see him this spring, the staff and specifically position coach Carlos Locklyn have shown Hiter as much as they can in terms of wanting him as a member of this class, and this weekend will be yet another chance to come away impressing the five-star talent.
The goal is two running backs in this cycle, and that’s not changing. Hiter would be the crown jewel for any program, and while others are putting in the hard work too, this weekend could be what hopefully puts Ohio State over the top. Simply put, this is a big time visit for a major player.
The No. 73 player nationally and ninth best defensive lineman in the 2026 class per the 247Sports Composite, Geralds has three visits prior to seeing the Buckeyes with LSU, Ole Miss, and Oregon being on the agenda, but Ohio State getting the last visit could help their chances for leaving him with a lasting impression.
A position group that really needs to get going, this upcoming month has to see some successful outcomes along the defensive line, and visits from top prospects will be closely watched.
Already offered by Ohio State, keeping tabs on him bodes well for the future, and having the chance to host him on campus is a win for keeping him interested. Developing his position among the best in college football, Towns Jr. will get another look at why this staff is so successful when it comes to quarterback play.
