Ohio State sends out its first scholarship offer since the Urban Meyer investigation kicked off.

Facing uncertainty with the status of head coach Urban Meyer following the investigation into the domestic abuse allegations against former wide receiver coach Zach Smith, the Ohio State Buckeyes football program has shifted its focus onto preparation for the upcoming season.

The coaching staff is back to hitting the recruiting trail and the Buckeyes offered 2020 athlete, Jecoryan Davis-Hamilton (Apopka, FL / Apopka) late Sunday night.

Davis-Hamilton plays quarterback for his high school football team, however, he is being recruited to play multiple positions at the next level because of his elite athleticism. The 6-foot-1, 160-pounder rushed for 383 yards on 42 carries while recording three touchdowns in a spring game win over Orange City University in May.

While Ohio State has already secured a commitment at QB in its 2020 class in four-star Jack Miller, it could still view Davis-Hamilton for multiple positions on offense.

While Davis-Hamilton has yet to receive a ranking by any major national recruiting database, he has begun receiving scholarship offers to play for some of the country’s top programs. In addition to Ohio State, he has received offers from Cincinnati, Syracuse, Virginia and Miami (FL). He also visited Auburn last fall but has yet to receive a scholarship offer.

Ohio State has gone most of August without presenting a recruit with a scholarship. However, with a decision regarding Meyer and his future with the program expected this week, along with the early signing period quickly approaching, the coaching staff will likely refocus its efforts onto recruiting soon.
