Could somebody please 'dumb it down' for me, and explain why I see 'unfinished' beside some of the matches? I do get that the match is over, but why not let these kids play it out? For a visiting team to come all this way, or the Buckeyes go there, and have the match called, seems a disservice to the players.....Am I also correct in assuming that when the match is unfinished, it would go towards their record as a 'win' or a 'loss' depending? Playing it out would allow a completion, or a come back, instead of a truncated game. Thanks in advance.

I don’t believe the unfinished matches count in the individuals’ records.

Once 1 team gets to 4 points, the teams can decide whether they want to complete the remaining matches. I don't know the protocol, as to whether the trailing team or the visiting team gets to decide, or whether both sides need to agree to continue. I suspect it’s both sides needing to agree, since the matches usually aren’t completed.

$92,000 (per team) payout for making it to the R16....not bad. Top seeded team went down already so we will see if the hot hand can keep going!

Champion $900,000
Finalist $485,000
Semi-finalist $275,000
Quarter-finalist $158,000
R16 $92,000
R32 $64,000
R64 $44,000

FWIW, In the 3rd round, #14 R. Cash & J. Tracy play #3 M. Granollers (Spain) and N. Zeballos (Argentina) Day 8 ? at 7 PM EST. I think that will be tomorrow....

I laugh, but daughter lives in C'bus. She called, saying that Kroger's lines were loooong, and pretty much store was bare. Other than the fact she's like her mother, about 3-4 months of food in the pantry, she needed lettuce and a couple other expirables. Awaiting the 10-16 inch storm (?). Didn't realize that C'bus had 'stages' of safety, driving in snowy conditions, etc. Hopefully all residents don't have any emergencies, etc. Does anyone know if hospitals are staffed? Sounds like the powers that be don't want anybody on the streets. OK, back to tennis....

The hospitals have to be staffed; they operate 24/7 regardless of the weather conditions.
