Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 19 Straight B1G Titles)

This addition to the roster takes the sting out of losing the commitment from blue chip recruit Matisse Farzam who opted to go to Clemson.

Byers should have 1 year of eligibility and would compete in the upper half of the Buckeyes singles lineup.

Really great pick up:

1. He was Penn State's #1 guy, overall 17-9 & duel 13-6 in 2024/2025

2. In B1G play he beat Aidan Kim 7-5. 6-4

3.
Over his three and a half seasons with the Nittany Lions, Byers has accumulated over 90 combined victories, largely playing at the top of the lineup. He’s a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a Big Ten distinguished Scholar, a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
If you only play 1/2 a season, do you get another full year of eligibility?

Just sayin': UCLA's win over Ohio State in the B1G Tournament wasn't a fluke. UCLA made it to the NCAA quarterfinals as an unranked team:
  • Quarterfinals | May 16
    • No. 1 Wake Forest vs. No. 8 Columbia, 11 a.m.
    • No. 4 Stanford vs. No. 12 Mississippi State, 2 p.m.
    • No. 2 TCU vs. No. 7 Virginia, 5 p.m.
    • No. 3 Texas vs. UCLA, 8 p.m.

Congratulations to Buckeye Aiden Kim.
He has recd direct invites to summer challenger events as well as acceptance into qualifiers for grand slam open draws.

Also read a report that Buckeyes will sign another transfer out of the portal, Tulsa #1 Alex Okonkwa.
He is 6'6, completed his second year at Tulsa and posted 23-12 singles record in 2024-25.
