Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 19 Straight B1G Titles)

Another interesting insight about Buckeye tennis players Cash and Tracy from ATP,
Also noteworthy is the cash prize totals they have earned playing the 22 doubles tournaments in 2025, 142k for each.
With the semis appearance, they will each receive $125k and jump from #60 to #11 in the atp live doubles rankings.

The fall 2025 schedule was posted on the mens tennis official site. It announced the first team event at the all Americans in Tulsa, sept 20-28. Buckeyes will be well represented with 9 Bucks earning invitations for singles.

"....Aidan Kim, Loren Byers, Alexander Bernard, Bryce Nakashima and Alex Okonkwo are in the main singles draw while Jack Anthrop, Preston Stearns, Nikita Filin and Brandon Carpico all are starting in qualifying. Kim and Bryce Nakashima along with Anthrop and Preston Stearns are in the main doubles draw. ..."

The ITA All American tournament main draw begins their play today with SEVEN Buckeyes earning entry into the round of 64 singles draw.

Kim is the #2 seed. Filin and Anthrop both advanced through the qualifying round to join Kim, Byers, Okonkwo, Bernard and Nakashima whose ranking earned an automatic admission into the main draw.
In addition to the stellar representation in the singles draw, FOUR Buckeyes doubles teams earned entry into the 32 team doubles main draw. Advancing through the qualifying rounds were the teams of Carpico/ Filin and Bernard/Okonkwo. They join Kim/Nakashima and Anthrop/Stearns in the main draw.
Especially noteworthy has been the performance of sophomore Nikita Filin. He won 5 straight singles matches in 4 days to advance through the pre-qualifying and qualifying draw. In doubles Filin and Carpico won 4 matches to advance through pre-qualifiers and qualifiers.
Looking ahead, The Buckeye team season will begin in January with some wild anticipation….
What a challenge for Ty Tucker in Buckeye practices, with 7 of the top 64 singles players in the NCAA and 4 of the top 32 doubles teams how do I find the top 6 singles and top 3 doubles teams to represent the Scarlet and Gray each match,
Yes and don’t forget ATP top 500 Victor Lilov will be enrolling in January.
Go Bucks!

The Ohio State Men's Tennis Team should be pretty solid and deep this season.

Do you think the returning 4 along with the 2 transfers will be enough to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament?

Are there any other players (like maybe Filin or Stearns) that actually might have a legitimate chance of bumping into the top 6?

What happened to Will Jansen, I thought he has a year of eligibility left?

Great questions script, My thoughts are purely speculative but embedded with your questions.

Absolutely, with transfers Bucks will boast a solid singles depth chart, and require any team take doubles point to have a chance for victory.

Kim, Okonkwo, Anthrop, Bernard, Byers, Nakashima, Filin, Stearns and Victor Lilov (enrolling in January) will all have UTR rankings above 13.0.
Nine on one team is unheard of.

Yes, based on his results at the all American Filins performance should bump his ranking into top 100.

Transfer portal lands Jansen at Georgia.

WOW, I found an article on it. Apparently, he wasn't too confident of cracking the "top 6" for the Buckeyes this season and/or Georgia offered a much better NIL deal. Sadly, it really doesn't look like "The Brit" is going to college over here for the education. Third school in four seasons.....
Didn't realize that he was a "one year rental".....

Also, currently UGA only has 2 ranked players:
Arda Azkara #80
Will Jansen #102

Jansen, a native of London, England, steps on to campus as a rising senior with one year of experience with the Buckeyes after spending his first two collegiates seasons at the University of North Carolina. As a Tar Heel, he compiled a 15-6 dual singles record during his freshman season including two ranked victories before an injury-riddled sophomore campaign held him to just a 7-8 dual singles mark with three ranked victories. In doubles for North Carolina, Jansen held a 20-11 record playing primarily alongside Karl Poling. In one season for Ohio State, Jansen posted a 12-10 overall singles record, going 10-6 in the spring and totaled 21 doubles wins – three of which were ranked victories. He helped the Buckeyes to a 28-4 record this past spring and reached a super-regional against No. 12 Mississippi State.

The London native has been ranked as high as No. 35 in the ITA singles rankings and No. 23 in the ITA doubles rankings. Jansen was named a 2024-25 ITA Doubles All-American after reaching the quarterfinals of the NCAA doubles championships last November. He currently holds a 13.13 Universal Tennis Rating and entered the collegiate scene as the highest ranked junior in every age group in the United Kingdom. Jansen was also crowned the 2021 British 18U National Champion as a junior. A graduate of the Reed's School in London, Jansen featured in the 2022 Wimbledon Junior Championships as a wild card entry.
