Gracel - help me noodle this one out. tOSU was ranked #1 for much of the season, lost a couple, and then regained #1. Did I miss something, but how come the Buckeyes are now ranked #3 in the NCAA's? I know what sounds logical, but sometimes logical isn't how it's played. Is it because the NCAA's are outdoors? Appreciate your helping me clear away the fog......anyway, may "Mr. Tape" always let tOSU shots trickle over, and keep back the opponents shots on their court!

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Peter Kobelt and Kevin Metka, members of the No. 2 Ohio State men’s tennis team, were selected to compete in the field of 64 singles players and 32 doubles tandems at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships the NCAA selection committee announced Wednesday. Kobelt was an at-large selection, while Kobelt and Meta were the Big Ten Conference’s automatic doubles qualifier. The two Buckeyes will begin competition May 21, following the NCAA team championship at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga, on the campus of the University of Georgia.
Ohio State will serve as one of 16 hosts of the first and second rounds of the team portion of the NCAA tennis championships starting May 9. Louisville and Wake Forest will open the Columbus regional at 10 a.m. before the third-seed Buckeyes and Bryant play at 1 p.m. The winners of the opening-round matches will meet in the second round at noon May 10. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students with a valid student ID and children. All matches are scheduled to take place at Ohio State’s outdoor facility, the Varsity Tennis Courts located on Olentangy River Road. In the case of inclement weather, matches will be moved indoors at the Varsity Tennis Center on 880 W. Henderson Road.
The No. 12 seed, Kobelt is the 11th Buckeye under head coach Ty Tucker to earn a bid into the NCAA singles championship. The lone senior on the nine-time defending Big Ten champions, Kobelt is making his second appearance in the singles tournament after posting a 28-9 overall record, including a 21-5 record in dual play. In the Big Ten, Kobelt, a three-time first team All-Big Ten selection, was 9-2, compiling an 21-5 mark at No. 1 singles. Kobelt was named the 2014 Most Outstanding Player at the ITA Team Indoor Championships this past February....

COLUMBUS, Ohio– Earning the No. 3 seed, the Ohio State men’s tennis team (30-3) will host one of 16 first and second round sites of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championships starting Friday. In addition to the Buckeyes, Bryant, Wake Forest and Louisville will look to advance from the Varsity Tennis courts on The Ohio State University campus to the University of Georgia for the Round of 16 next week in Athens, Ga.
Play begins at 10 a.m. Friday as Louisville takes on Wake Forest followed by Ohio State and Bryant at 1 p.m. The winners of the opening-round matches will meet at Noon Saturday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for senior citizens, students with a valid student ID. Live stats will be available through the Tournament Central Page.
