The Buckeyes also dished out their first offer in the 2028 recruiting class.
The Ohio State football team is in the thick of a busy spring. The Buckeyes are hard at work preparing the current roster for the upcoming season, one that holds lofty expectations. However, the staff is also busy both hosting recruits on visits and making visits to players they view as priority targets.
The Buckeyes continued this trend Monday, visiting with top prospects and dishing out multiple scholarship offers. Ohio State also reaped the rewards of its hard work to start the week, making the top schools list for one of its top wide receiver targets in the 2025 class.
Four-star WR Quincy Porter (Oradell, NJ / Bergen Catholic) released his top six schools on Monday, and Ohio State made the cut. Alongside the Buckeyes, Porter also included Texas A&M, Michigan, Penn State, Oklahoma and Alabama.
Ohio State has long made Porter a priority at the position. He last visited the Buckeyes in the spring and he has an official visit scheduled in June. Porter also made a spring visit with Penn State and has summer visits scheduled with Oklahoma and Michigan.
Porter has kept his recruitment rather close to his vest, and no 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions have been cast yet. However, it appears that this may be a battle between Ohio State and Michigan for his recruitment.
Wide receiver is easily the position the Buckeyes have excelled in recruiting the nation’s top talents, but Ohio State has just one commitment at the position in the 2025 class with De’zie Jones. However, the Buckeyes are also still heavily involved in the recruitments of for many of the class’ top talent at the position, including Dakorien Moore, Jaime Ffrench, Daylan McCutcheon, Talyn Taylor, Phillip Bell, and more.
Porter is the No. 7 WR in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and he is the No. 49 overall recruit. Porter is also the No. 1 recruit out of New Jersey.
Ohio State has made the offensive line a priority in this class, like it does every year. The Buckeyes already hold a commitment from Ohio four-star offensive tackle Carter Lowe and are heavily recruiting multiple more.
Ohio State threw its name in the hat for another offensive line prospect on Monday, offering four-star Mario Nash Jr. (De Kalb, KS / Kemper County).
Nash has seen his recruitment take off as of late after being named offensive lineman MVP at the Under Armour Next Camp in Atlanta back in February. Prior to his camp performance, Nash had released a top ten schools that did not include Ohio State. However, after receiving offers from the likes of Ohio State, Oregon, LSU, Colorado, Florida State, Texas A&M, and USC, he may, understandably, be rethinking his list.
Nash is the No. 19 IOL recruit in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and is the No. 310 overall prospect. He is also the No. 11 recruit out of Mississippi.

- Ohio State dished out its first scholarship in the 2028 class on Monday to wide receiver Eric McFarland (Bradenton, FL / IMG Academy). McFarland is only in the eighth grade and has not yet played a down in high school, but that didn’t stop the Buckeyes from presenting him with a scholarship offer.
