Ohio State LB Craig Fada headed to Houston Texans rookie minicamp

Even though he wasn’t drafted, Fada will get a shot at the NFL.
Although he didn’t hear his name called during the 2017 NFL Draft like many of his now former teammates, Ohio State linebacker and special teams terror Craig Fada will get a chance at playing on the next level after getting a tryout opportunity with the Houston Texans.
What are you getting in Fada?
A tough, hard nosed player, who isn’t afraid to mix it up with bigger or faster athletes, Fada might’ve not heard his name called like some of his classmates, but will have a shot at making an NFL roster.
Like former Buckeye and current New England Patriot Nate Ebner, Fada, a former walk-on at Ohio State, didn’t see many minutes on defense, rather making his name known as a big hitter on the special teams unit.
While Fada did crack the lineup at linebacker for OSU, he’ll probably have to continue his headhunting ways on special teams to earn a paycheck for years to come in the National Football League.
Not the first Fada to play on the next level, Craig’s father, Rob, a Pittsburgh graduate, played for the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs in the 1980’s.

He had a few missteps during the drills, resulting in a couple of slips around the cones, but all-in-all had a good day. He was quick off the ground during mat drills and had solid hip rotation during position drills.” - Alexis Chassen, Land-Grant Holy Land
How good was Fada in College?
Coming to Ohio State as a walk-on from nearby Bishop Watterson High School, Fada worked hard in practice and in the weight room to see game action, finally paving the way for him to be put on scholarship during his final season with the team.
While his overall numbers weren’t eye popping, Fada, whose presence on special teams was felt nearly every kickoff, finished his four year career at Ohio State with over 20 total tackles for the Buckeyes.
Craig didn’t walk away with the Butkus or any other awards for his play on the field at Ohio State, but he did bring home some hardware while at OSU. Not just a national champion athlete, Fada, a Biology major, was also named Academic All-Big Ten for his effort in the classroom.
