The football and basketball Buckeyes had their handful over the weekend.
With football back at it, it isn’t the only season fans will be keeping a close eye on. It’s also recruiting visit season. Like many other schools across the country Ohio State took full advantage of the beautiful weekend weather.
Urban Meyer and the Ohio State football team didn’t just play host to the Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday, they also had a number of recruits in the stands getting an up close look at what it would be like to suit up for a national power.
Headlining the list of prospects on hand for the Buckeyes dominating performance against Bowling Green was key class of 2018 target L’Christian “Blue” Smith (Dayton, OH / Wayne).
Making the trip down to Columbus once again, Smith, who could play basketball on the college level, had the chance to mingle with coach Meyer and crew, but also members of the OSU basketball staff.
A four-star recruit, the Buckeyes would love to bring the 6-foot-6, 205-pound standout into the fold, but face some pretty stiff competition for his pledge. Michigan State, and programs such as Alabama, Michigan, and Notre Dame have offered Smith a chance to attend their University.
Will Smith end up in Columbus or will head out of state? We’ll probably be waiting awhile for that answer, but stick with Land-Grant Holy Land for the latest.
5-star small forward visits OSU
Arguably Thad Matta and the basketball Buckeyes top remaining class of 2017 target, Troy Brown (Las Vegas,NV/Centennial) was in Columbus over the weekend taking his official visit with OSU.
After checking out what Columbus had to offer, Brown isn’t done making trips to college campuses. The third small forward, and 13th overall prospect in the senior class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, will now visit Alabama (Sept 9-10), Oregon (Sept 23-25), Kansas (Sept 30 - Oct 2) and Georgetown (Oct 5-7).
Standing 6-foot-6 and over 200 pounds, Brown is a mismatch at numerous spots on the court. As a junior, the five-star talent averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds a contest for Centennial High School – who finished the season off with a final record of 24-4.

- Current Ohio State commit Shaun Wade (Jacksonville, FL / Trinity Catholic) visited Florida on Saturday for the Gators game against UMass. Wade, a longtime Buckeye pledge, has flirted with other programs throughout his recruitment. Alabama and Notre Dame are among the other programs the 2017 five-star cornerback is considering.
- After locking up your vote last weekend, class of 2017 commit Brendon White (Powell,OH / Olentangy Liberty) ran away with the Land-Grant Holy Land MVP of the Week. White and his soon-to-be OSU teammates were back at it over the last few days. Which future Buckeye did enough to grab the award this go around?
