Before, during, and after the Ohio State football season, we here at Land-Grant Holy Land like to ask and answer questions about the team, college football, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.
I think on a purely literal level, Will Howard is the correct answer here. As the starting quarterback, there is no doubt that he will impact games more than probably anyone else on the team. However, I do think that an argument can be made for Quinshon Judkins. While I fully expect him to share time the bulk of the carries with TreVeyon Henderson, the impact of having a pair of Heisman-level running backs could be massive for an Ohio State offense still figuring out what it can be.
So, while I would probably vote for the QB just based on the nature of the position, I do think that the addition of Judkins could end up having pretty far-reaching impacts even when he’s not on the field.
While Will Howard being on the top of the Most Impactful Transfer list does make a certain amount of success, I am a bit surprised to find him leading the way. I think that the Kansas State transfer will be solid and productive in Ryan Day and Chip Kelly’s offense, looking across the team, I’m not sure that I would pick him to be the team’s MVP.
Of course, like with the question above, the quarterback is always at a significant advantage when it comes to things like this, but there are so many other incredibly talented players on this team — many of whom will compete for All-American status and individual postseason awards — that putting Will Howard at the top of the MVP-pecking order didn’t really cross my mind.
However, if Buckeye Nation ends up proving right, then that likely means that Howard is a Heisman Trophy finalist and the Buckeyes are likely to make a deep run in the College Football Playoff.
Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Ohio State fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Question 1: What transfer player will have the biggest impact on Ohio State’s season?

Question 2: Who will be Ohio State’s MVP this season?
