The Buckeyes also hope to end the week with a BOOM.

Ohio State is a little more than a month away from the start of the 2025-2026 college football regular season, and the 2026 recruiting class is quickly coming to a close. The Buckeyes’ recruiting class is made up of 21 commitments, and the class is viewed as the No. 6 class by 247Sports, making for another impressive recruiting haul.

However, recruiting databases are constantly updating their rankings, and on Monday Rivals did just that when they released their updated Rivals300. With the newest update, multiple Ohio State commits saw their stock rise from the last update, and two commits in particular saw massive improvements in their rankings.

Four-star offensive tackle commit Sam Greer (Akron, OH / Archbishop Hoban) saw his stock rise to the No. 14 overall recruit from No. 96. The jump was the second-biggest jump in their newest update.

Almost just as impressive though was Ohio State four-star defensive end commit Khary Wilder (Gardena, CA / Junipero Serra), who went from being unranked all the way to No. 38 overall. Rivals is much higher than Wilder than most other recruiting databases but with the struggles Ohio State has had in recruiting the position, all of Buckeye Nation is hoping they know better than the others.

Ohio State is not quite finished adding to the class, and there are just a few targets remaining. July has not been the kindest to the Buckeyes when it comes to recruiting, as the Buckeyes missed on all of their remaining defensive end targets and their top remaining offensive line target in Felix Ojo. However, they are hoping the back half of July will be kinder to them.

That will start this week as Ohio State three-star wide receiver target Jerquaden Guilford (Fort Wayne, IN / Northrop) will announce his commitment this Friday, July 18 and Ohio State appears to be the team to beat in this race once again. Guilford has had a roller coaster of a recruitment, at one point being committed to Penn State.

Guilford then decommitted from the Nittany Lions and Ohio State became the immediate favorites. Then Ole Miss became the favorites following a big NIL offer. Now, it appears the Buckeyes are once again the leaders in his recruitment, receiving crystal ball prediction over the weekend.

Crystal Ball Alert!

Ohio State has now received their 3rd Crystal Ball to land Jerquaden Guilford.

This is OSU 3rd CB this time made by Steve Wiltfong.

Guilford is the No. 68 WR in the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is the No. 442 national prospect. He is also the No. 1 recruit out of Indiana.

Quick Hits

  • Ohio State is reportedly having to fend off LSU for its the defensive centerpiece in its 2026 recruiting class, five-star safety Blaine Bradford. This all began when five-star ATH Lamar Brown committed to the Tigers last week, and Hayes Fawcett of On3 posted that Brown and LSU are pushing to flip Bradford.

Despite the recent rumors, Bradford has done nothing but state he is 100 percent committed to the Buckeyes, even shutting his recruitment down in April. He has also commented on Fawcett’s Instagram post hoping to shut down the rumors.

  • Ohio State is not only making recruiting headlines on the gridiron, as Jake Diebler and the Ohio State men’s basketball team also made news of their own Monday. Elite 2028 shooting guard Kameron Mercer announced that he will be taking an unofficial visit with Ohio State on Aug. 1. Mercer is already viewed as one of the top prospects in his class, and Ohio State will have plenty of competition for earning his commitment.

Mercer is a 6-foot-5 lefty guard who just wrapped up his freshman season of high school. He’s one of the top overall prospects in the ‘28 class.
