Plus, The Basketball Tournament starts tomorrow and plenty of Buckeye news from around the NFL.
“Bosa had 13.5 sacks and 23 TFLs in his first two seasons and those numbers could see a huge uptick as he becomes a bigger part of the Ohio State defense. In a class that looks full of impressive defensive linemen, Bosa will be among the top prospects.”

The 2018 football season is inching closer, and with that also comes talk about the draftable players to watch heading into 2019. While it might seem a little early to forecast where the top college football players will go following the upcoming season, there’s plenty of people naming some Buckeyes to keep an eye on.
In Ben Natan’s preview of some of the top players heading into the season, Nick Bosa tops his list at edge defender, and Dre’Mont Jones is named as an interior player to watch.
These two names should be floating around some of the bigger networks throughout the season, and with Joey Bosa’s successful transition to the NFL from Ohio State, all eyes will be on Nick as he makes his case to be the No. 1 overall pick next April.
Jones isn’t someone that Draft Twitter has discovered yet, but it’s just a matter of time. In the past two seasons, the DL nabbed 71 total tackles, 9.0 for loss, and a sack. With the Buckeyes using a heavy rotation among their defensive line in 2017, Jones hasn’t seen the type of snap count that would reflect his contributions on the stat line, but heading into his final year at Ohio State, he should definitely be a bigger part of the Buckeyes’ scheme.

The 2018 edition of The Basketball Tournament has already gotten underway, but the Midwest regional will begin on Saturday. This is the group that Buckeye fans will want to keep an eye on, with plenty of Ohio State alumni suiting up once again in Columbus.
Team Scarlet and Gray is back for their second season, after coming up just shy of the championship in 2017. The team features Thad Matta-era Buckeyes and fan favorites like Aaron Craft, David Lighty, and Jared Sullinger. The group of guys initially came together last season to pay homage to their former coach who was unceremoniously dismissed by Ohio State, and it almost felt like no time was lost from when the group last played together.

I mean, look at how happy they are. This is the look of teammates who truly enjoy playing together and being around one-another, and it’s something that Chris Holtmann is hoping can happen with his very young group of guys as they prepare for their trip to Spain.
It isn’t just the OSU alumni on Team Scarlet and Gray to keep an eye on, but team Big X also features former players from throughout the Big Ten, including Andrew Dakich and Jae’Sean Tate. The Big X crew take the court first against the Chattanooga Trenches, with the Scarlet & Gray squad facing off against a yet unknown opponent later in the afternoon.

Buckeye Bits out of the NFL
Billy Price in an exclusive interview with Cincy Jungle — Rebecca Toback
“I was surprised. I wasn’t expecting Cincinnati,” Price said in an exclusive interview with Cincy Jungle. “I was thinking it was going to be Detroit and it ended up being Cincinnati and it’s the best place to be drafted to. I’m happy to be here.”
(Price also got engaged this week! Congrats to the happy couple)
On Andrew Norwell’s contract with the Jaguars — Bill Barnwell, ESPN
“The Jags have basically handed out two-year deals with team options to most of their free agents under Dave Caldwell’s reign as general manager, but after handing Norwell a $15 million signing bonus on his five-year, $66.5 million contract, it’s clear they expect Norwell to stick around for at least three seasons. “
Devin Smith released by the Jets — Alexis Chassen, LGHL
“Expectations were high for wideout Devin Smith in 2015 when he was drafted to the New York Jets out of Ohio State, but the Buckeyes’ go-to deep-threat couldn’t stay healthy enough to contribute at the next level. Just as teams are getting ready for training camp, the Jets decided to release their former second-round pick...”
On Terrelle Pryor Sr. and his potential with the Jets in 2018 — Smackdad, Gang Green Nation
“This had to have been a bitter disappointment for the talented Mr. Pryor, who now faced an uncertain future coming off an injury and a disastrous performance and moving swiftly towards football middle age at the age of 29. One year removed from his breakout campaign with the Browns Pryor could only obtain a one year $4.5 million dollar prove it deal with the Jets.”
