A huge second half en route to a road win over a top ten team? That’ll get you some hardware.
The first half of the Ohio State-Wisconsin game won’t go down as one of J.T. Barrett’s best performances. In fact, that goes for the entire Ohio State offense.
But fortunately for the Buckeyes, football games are longer than one half. And thanks to an excellent second half, the Buckeyes were able to storm back against the Wisconsin Badgers, winning 30-23 in overtime.
The Big Ten conference noticed, giving Barrett another Big Ten co-offensive player of the week award.
Barrett picked up 318 total yards against an exceptionally stout Wisconsin defense, including a seven yard touchdown pass that proved to be the gamewinning score. Barrett also broke Braxton Miller’s Ohio State record for most touchdowns responsible for, with his 89th score.
This is Barrett’s 6th Big Ten offensive player of the week award, and his 13th overall Big Ten honor, a huge number helped in part by his weekly domination of the Big Ten freshman of the week honors.
We have a sneaking suspicion that this won’t be the last award J.T. Barrett earns over his storied Buckeyes career. Congrats, and well earned.
