Offensive Assistant Devin Jordan (Official Thread)

"I'll still be on scholarship, but I won't play anymore. It's the best situation because I'll be able to help the team and this gives Ohio State an extra scholarship. They can use it on somebody that can contribute on the field."

So he's still on scholarship, but it doesn't count against the 85.

It sounds like Devin's adjusted to not being able to play. Here's hoping he reaches his goal of being a full-time coach.

Devin's on the far right.

Looks like he has been doing some work in the weight room. The family atmosphere that Tressel and his staff promote is certainly present here. I could see A LOT of other coaches either taking away his scholarship or suggesting a transfer, but not Tress. Devin is getting some priceless experience and being able to get his degree from Ohio State too. Hopefully he can come on as a Grad Asst. after he graduates.

Walsh hires former Massillon star Devin Jordan as an assistant football coach
CantonRep.com staff report
Posted Mar 05, 2012

NORTH CANTON ?

Walsh University head football coach Jim Dennison has announced the hiring of Devin Jordan as an assistant football coach for the Cavaliers. He will coach the wide receivers.

Jordan is a former standout receiver Massillon, whose collegiate career at Ohio State was derailed by an injury.

Jordan served as a student-coach for Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes for three years and coached seven players who went on to play in the NFL. He served under former Buckeye wide receivers coach, and now head coach at Kent State, Darrell Hazel.

Last year Jordan was the wide receivers coach at Otterbein University, after spending two years at Wittenberg University. He coached two NCAA All-Americans at Wittenberg.

?Coach Jordan comes to us with great credentials on the highest level of college football,? Dennison said. ?We are extremely excited to welcome him back to Stark County and into our move to the NCAA and Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. His presence and background will add excitement to Walsh University Football.?

As a player, Jordan earned first-team All-Ohio honors his junior and senior season for the Tigers. He teamed with quarterback Justin Zwick to form one of the most dangerous aerial combinations in the state in 2001, hauling in 101 passes for 1,504 yards and 18 touchdowns. He followed that up by catching 59 passes for 893 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior. Jordan still holds Tiger records? for single-season receptions (101) and touchdowns (18), and single-game catches (12) and touchdown catches (4).

Can anybody give me a summary or point me in the right direction on getting educated on:

The structure of assistants outside the 10 full time assistants.

We have Grad Coaches, Analysts, offense and defensive assistants, quality control.

Is there a limit to how many you can have, can they coach during practices, how much money do they make.

Does it seem like we are adding a bunch of these coaches this year?

10 on field assistants and 4 grad assistants it seems like outside of that its how many ever you can budget … i’m guessing they dont make a ton.. i think analyst make $50k i think i saw…

and as long as you’re hiring the right people I don't think this is a bad thing to have more eyeballs on the program especially when you know you’ll eventually need to fill the ranks of the on field assistants in the future

In 2019 Bama had 12 analysts on staff, as well as the 10 offices assistants. This is how Saban constructs his Death Star
