1) The game was closer than the score. It was just uncanny how any momentum producing plays would immediately be countered by a negative (penalty, blown coverage, dropped pass, etc.)
2) Boeckman didn't look left. One play in particular, LSU plain forgot to line someone up on our WR. Boeckman was busy talking to the line and backs, etc. and never noticed. By the time the ball was snapped they had someone in coverage, but it had to have been a safety or LB. Still, he never looked left. That play was a sure touchdown. That said...
3) Dorsey really is pretty good. Boeckman's (legitimate) fear of getting killed surely contributed to his staring down the primary (usually to his right) most of the night.
4) Beanie is a GREAT back. He was still limping on the sidelines... and y'all saw what he did in the game.
5) The zone is not good when playing a well coached team with a good QB and good WRs. Waiting for a mistake is good, but what if they never make one?
6) LSU fans are loud. We seemed to outnumber them, but they seemed louder to me. I was in a mostly LSU section, but still... damn. We definately played a road game and LSU definately played at home that night.
7) LSU fans are obnoxious as a group. One-on-one most were pretty cool. They would throw out the SEC-vs-the-world crap, but when pressed would admit they didn't really believe it either... they just like annoying Buckeyes. As someone who likes annoying Wolverines, I can respect that. Nowhere near as obnoxious as Gator fans last year who all wanted to fight for some reason.
8) Buckeye fans are pretty cool. Our cheers are positive, no "Tiger-bait!" crap here. Just "O-H" "I-O!" and "Go Bucks!" No one sat down. Whenever a player on the field pumped his arms... he got a loud "Let's-Go-BUCKS... Let's-Go-BUCKS!" even when the game was 'over'. Ask the LSU fans... they were impressed... annoyed, but impressed.

1.) No it wasn't. The game was a blowout anyway you look at it, if you didn't watch the game and just looked at the box score you would see that. But the momentum was taken over by LSU at the start of the end of the first quarter and went into halftime with it. College football is an amazing sport unlike any other. The shifts in momentum are unmatched in just about any other sport/level including the NFL. It's quite fun to watch which is one reason why it is my favorite sport.
2.) It's pretty common for this to happen. If I could get the play you are talking about I can tell you exactly what they are doing but just by guess LSU does roll a lot of coverage. If you were in the spread formation or had more than one WR wide out to one side then I am guessing there was a safety deep, or LB that was going back into coverage. Again I would have to see the play but rolling coverages at the snap is nothing new and a good way to disguise certain things.
3.) Agreed.
4.) Agreed.
5.) Agreed. The problem is you don't have the offense to go score for score with a team like LSU. I've addressed it in other posts of mine that if the offensive scheme and philosophy would change for OSU you guys would be very dangerous with the defense that you have (should the major players stay).
6.) I've traveled to many different stadiums and seen many teams. Let me just say this, LSU fans are football crazy which is why our stadium is now called Death Valley. The Saturday night rivalry games are wild. If you ever have the chance to come see a game at Tiger Stadium against an SEC opp. do it, if it is on Sat. night. The tailgating, drinking, cooking leading up to the game is very fun and by the time we get into the stadium it's on. But I've seen the OSU vs. Mich. games and I know how they can be. I know I'm a homer but we are LSU crazy down here and we are loud.
7.) Every fan base is like this, you have idiots in every group. I know we have them and you certainly have them as well. Look I spent NYE in Disney World. There were a lot of Buckeyes there and for some reason when I was with my family they decide to come up to me and start talking shit about how we suck and have two losses and shouldn't be in the game blah blah blah. Whatever, every fan base has them. But I ran into some very cool fans that were respectful and knew a lot about the game in general. But it goes without saying that some were very arrogant but the same for LSU, we have them too. I just think it's funny when people say things like (and this is not directed at you BEintheBoro) 'those fans were classless', sometimes we need not look past our own fans.
8.) Agreed, I think you guys have some good cheers and loyal fans. I'm glad that y'all have so much pride in your team. I'd have it no other way. Just think if a team like USF would have been in the game, I doubt they even have cheers.
Anyway, not directed at you BEintheBoro. Just a few random thoughts of mine. Have a great day!![]()
mstevmac;1062404; said:I'm sorry but you have to be kidding about #1...If we don't get that penalty for roughing the kicker, we would be down by 7 after we scored our next TD. Therefore would have made the game play out a little more different, meaning Tressel would have allowed the ball to be given to Beanie instead of having Boeckman drop back every play. Not saying we were going to come back and win but it would have made things much more interesting. And how can you say the game was a blowout by looking at the box score? The only thing that stands out to me is the score and turnovers. I agree with you about the momentum as it can change in a split second in college football...
I personally would love to see LSU for example come and play up north where it is potentially a "home game" for the Bucks. It plays quite a big role in games.
#5...I agree. If you watch the past 2 NC games for the buckeyes, once we stopped moving the ball on the other team, we didn't mix it up. I think that is what hurt us in both NC games. I noticed and pointed it out from the upper deck at the game in the second half, that it took the LSU defense quite a while to get the plays in. If we ran a little bit of hurry up offense we would have had you on your heels and caught LSU off gaurd like you did to us on a few plays.
Just my 2 cents...
Forgot to add one thing...I was quite surprised to see how many LSU fans didn't care to watch the ceremony after the game. Walking down Poydrus and seeing many LSU fans walking out with us Buckeye fans, I was shocked, and quite frankly pissed me off even more than I already was. Shows how loyal some of your fans were. I just thought that was quite surprising.
