Now settled in central Florida.

TSKCoug

Ambassador from the Cougar Nation in Gatorland
The move is complete and we have exchanged the Evergreen State for the great American swamp. Now I have to hope for a quick sale for my old house in WA. We certainly were able to get a much better larger house on a larger lot here in central Florida than we had in King County, WA and for less money!! Any of you had cross-country moves in the last few years? How long did it take you to get fully aclimated and comfortable with your new home?

Congrats, TSK! That's quite a change. You running from something? :p

For a little while I thought I might be moving to FL this month, too, but nope. Sounded sunny... which reminds me, better go ding LoKy preemptively... 'cause I'm sure he'll deserve it soon...

I've done the cross-country move twice, and was constantly aware of the difference for about a year. The first move, I skipped the air conditioning the first summer but needed it again after acclimating. The second time, my teeth chattered all winter... still cold this past winter, but at least that awful feeling of never being able to get warm went away. Don't think you will have to worry about that one...

Ohio to New Jersey was the last move. I have been out here for 3 years and still cannot stand it. Everything is different. I'm getting ready to move to Austin, TX with the family next month. Should be interesting. Good luck in FL.

Wisconsin to Florida two years ago.... welcome to the neighborhood :)

I'd say it took us about 6 months to get used to this being home... due to several circumstances we are still renting a house.. it's hard to really feel at home when you are renting but we're building a house that will be finished in December so that will be the last step. I hope you sell your house in WA soon... it took us 5 months to sell in Wisconsin and paying a mortgage and rent for that long really drained us.

He just did the reverse Devard Darling

Very good Cougar reference, I had not thought about it myself but I guess you are right. I just hope that my carreer change down here goes much better than his pro-football carreer is progressing.

As to ESPN game plan, funny that BB73 should mention it, as the Dish guys will be in tommorrow to hook up our system and said that we will have to wait to sign up for ESPN game plan for another month or so as it not yet available.

My kids are likely to grow up to be Gators and Seminoles, but God forbid that any of them become 'Canes! That would be nearly as bad as having Husky kids!
