My daughter's first Buckeye game.

So it looks like I am taking my 10 year old daughter to the OSU vs. Akron football game in early September. Usually I am with the guys and it's a 2 day drunk-fest, so this will be different.

We will be arriving Friday and staying over. Any recommendations for "kid friendly" hotels (good pool), and maybe shuttles to and from the game?

I was thinking of doing the "Skull Session" which I have been interested in doing in the past, but never have. 2 hours prior to kickoff I believe? Now does that mean it actually starts at 10am? or just be in line by that time?

Any breakfast ideas on campus for day of game or Sunday morning?

Since classes will not be in session yet for the Akron game, will the Ohio Union be open? I haven't seen it since 1989, and have heard it is vastly improved.

Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, and GO BUCKS!!!

Kegs and Eggs! Your 10-year old daughter will learn a lot about college life. :io:

I believe the Union will be open - I checked it out last year on the morning of the Miami game, and it was worth the visit. But you'll need to get there early in order to get over to St. John arena by 10 am, because if you're not there by then you probably won't get a seat for the Skull Session.

Isn' there a Holidome out in Hilliard that is kinda nice? It's been years since I've been there but kiddos love the Holidome.

Skull Session is a must. Every time I take my boys we do the Skull Session and it's a great time.

Have a blast!

Do not park way up on the east end of Lane Ave. A ten year old girl should not be exposed to that! I walked my 17 year old daughter down that way last year and there was a house with 2 creeps sitting on the porch with a banner that said, "Freshman Girls Information and Orientation". It was a teachable moment. :)

When she was 14 she went for the first time. We were sitting next to a couple of 18-20 year old boys in section AA east side. These kids were using the F word in every way possible: noun, adjective, adverb, conjunction, comma, period, etc. but I didn't hear it until my daughter said something. The one closest to her was spitting snuff and it was splashing on her leg. She endured it for an hour and then told me what was going on. I had to tell them that I didn't appreciate that language in my daughter's presence, and I certainly didn't appreciate her being spit on, and that if it didn't stop... well, they took off and we never saw them the rest of the day! While I've usually had great Buckeye folks around me for the games I brought young kids, there are imbeciles out there.

I'll say this - it was easier taking my son. When he was about 13 we were at a Sept game in a section with a lot of coeds, and it was hot. The hotter it got, the less clothes they wore. It started making me uncomfortable because of my son, so I asked him what he thought of the girls around us. He said, "What girls?" He was watching the game!

Sounds like it's going to be an early start to the day....but looking forward to it.
