Head Coach
I hope this comment doesn't come off as a knock on a recruit or a player because I do not intend it that way. At this point and time I don't see Pryor being a lock at QB, regardless of who comes into our program. I do see flashes of greatness when he runs the ball but his passing ability and decision making process are less than desirable at times. (I do think that will improve in time.) Some people have commented on tOSU being out of the picture with Boyd because he would have to sit behind TP for three years. If Boyd is as good as this thread claims he is, then why would he be afraid to come in and compete for the spot? As I said, I don't see Pryor as being "dethroneable." Tressel has always started the best player for the team to succeed. Who's to say that Boyd wouldn't be that his sophemore year? I still think we have a lot to offer this kid. For instance out of the three schools, where do you think he has the best chance at a National Championship? Every school has its good points but my scarlet colored glasses still say that tOSU is the best option for this kid if he isn't afraid of some really great competition.

I also share this sentiment SOMEWHAT. I think for being such a talented kid that Pryor is a very insecure guy. Sometimes he speaks confidently and other times he think's his performance (even if its pretty good) was horrible. However, I thought his performances were pretty strong for a freshman QB who was known solely for his running abilities.

About Boyd though. I really hope he comes our way because I do think he's been more groomed to throw the ball unlike Pryor who did more of his work on the ground. If he doesn't choose the buckeyes though I will keep my eye out for him because he has a very bright future ahead of him!

Not to say Boyd would start over Pryor, but did you watch the games? Bottom line: Pryor was nowhere near as good a passer as his Passing Efficiency statistics would leave you to believe.

Realistic expectation for Boyd at Ohio State is to be the #3 guy (unless Bauserman decides to move on for some reason). Maybe #2 if he is really good, but #3 is the most realistic. That is a good place to be though. Of the three teams, Ohio State has the best chance to be competing for NCs over the next few years. But for a kid who wants to make a name for himself in short order, your chances are a little lower at Ohio State than Clemson or Oregon. And that is nothing but a tribute to the level and depth of talent at Ohio State.

In year 1? Maybe. In year 2? I wouldn't bet against Boyd for #2.

I see what you're saying but where you see insecurity, I see perfectionist!!

Exactly, when pryor says he played a ok game, that's his perspective. He is used to completely dominating his competion. He still sees that there is room for improvement and it seems like he will bee willing to put in the time to become the best he can. FWIW I see no way that Boyd overtakes Pryor I'd put those odds at about 10,000:1.
