Ohio State Student Disappears On Way To Class
NBC 4

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Police said that they are searching for an Ohio State University student who has not been seen since Thursday morning. The family of Hiroshi Hayashi said he left home for school but never made it to class.

Police found Hayashi's car in a campus parking lot off Kenny Road and Lane Avenue.

The Hayashi family said the 21-year-old computer science student was always good about telling them where he would be. He told them he would be home for dinner Thursday night. They said he seemed fine in the days leading up to his disappearance and was not facing any sort of stressful situation from which he might have been fleeing.

Hayashi, an OSU junior, shares a connection with missing Ohio State University medical student Brian Shaffer. Hayashi's brother graduated from Pickerington High School, in the same class as Shaffer.

Hayashi also graduated from Pickerington High School, according to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers.

Both the Hayashi and Shaffer families have been in contact with each other.

Hayashi's nickname is Hiro, and he is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds. He has shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes. Police said he was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white Nautica Surf T-shirt and a navy blue jacket with a blue stripe down the sleeves. He has narrow frame eyeglasses and was wearing white tennis shoes.

Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is collecting information about both disappearances. Anyone with information in either case can contact the agency at (614) 645-8477.

Yup.

I would have to guess that the guy who disappeared on Thursday left on his own, or was taken from someone he knew, because that lot on west campus has way to many people around for it to be easy for the guy to disappear.

West campus is so wide open I'd actually consider it one of the easier places on campus to "disappear" from--and with bad weather on Thursday there were probably even fewer people than normal out there.

I park there everyday and there are always a ton of people around. I can say I have neve felt unsafe there.

There's generally no reason to feel unsafe there, but I've had dozens of mornings where I was the only person waiting at the central West Campus bus stop--and there are no buildings with windows close enough for anyone to look out on those lots.
