Some interesting matchups here...

Notre Dame gets the media darling upset pick in Wintrhop...

Oregon should be able to handle Miami(Oh)

Unlv/Ga tech is a classic 7-10 battle

I would also give one of those teams the chance to beat Wisky...

Purdue gets in and faces Arizona who is a team with a ton of talent, but they never play up to their potential...

Butler and ODU area 2 midmajors that they matchup against eaach other...

Also Maryland/Davidson is a nice matchup where Davidson could pull the upset...They are a very solid team and Maryland seems to not show up at times...

I don't see anyone capable of running with Florida unless they have a horrible game tho...

Too bad for Miami. Oregon is a pretty tough matchup. I expect them to get smoked.

ND/Winthrop, I'm not sure I'm drinking the Winthrop cool-aid. Too trendy for me. I like ND

Is UNLV really better than Ga Tech?

Wiscy will be lucky to get to the regional finals

I think Florida will get a real test in the second round, regardless of whether it's Arizona or Purdue.

Ga. Tech could be trouble for Wiscy if the Yellow Jackets get by UNLV.

I wanted to pick Winthrop to win a game or two, but ND has been playing well lately.

I think it's a good draw for Oregon.

Here are the first round matchups and how I see it going....

Florida/Jackson St.

Flordia - This one is easy, but Trey Johnson is one of the best players in the country and will be fun to watch, you will see his name called in the first round of the NBA draft next year.

Arizona/Purdue

Arizona - Arizona has big bodies to throw at Landry and not allow him to really go off, and they have guards to throw at Teague. Zona is one of the most athletic teams in the tourney and that will give Purdue all kinds of fits.

Butler/ODU

ODU - I hate the fact that this game was set up. Two midmajors having to face each other. I like ODU due to the fact that Butler seemed to really limp to the finish line and ODU has some solid wins, and they have an inside presence which is something that Butler doesnt have.

Maryland/Davidson

Maryland - Maryland is a very solid team with balance all the way down their lineup. They have a great shot blocker in the paint in Ebekwe and great guards with Jones and Strawberry. They also have leadership. Davidson with Curry will try and shoot their way to a victory, but I think Maryland will be too much for them.

Notre Dame/Winthrop

Notre Dame - Too much love for Wintrhop. Notre Dame is going to be very prepared. I expect to see a close game, but if Notre Dame continues to shoot the ball as well as they have and feed the post with Harangody they should win this game.

Oregon/Miami(OH)

Oregon - Miami just barely got in with a lucky bank shot. I think that Oregon has way to much athleticism for them and they will put this one away early.

UNLV/Ga Tech

UNLV - This is my secondest hardest game to pick besides Nevada/Creighton but I went with UNLV. They have been under the radar all year and are a very solid team. Ga Tech is freshmen heavy at their important positions, but watch out for UNLV as they could give Wisky a match up in the second round, but they have a tough matchup with Ga Tech first.

Wisconsin/TAMU-CC

Wisconsin - Could be a very close game, but Wisky has too much for them.

I picked up tickets to the regionals here hoping to see OSU, but that didn't happen. Soooo, the sweet sixteen:

UF
Maryland (my second favorite team)
ND
GT

Finals:
Maryland V. GT

Winner: Maryland (Senior leaders Imbekwe, Strawberry, and Jones mixed with talented freshman in Greivus Vazquez. That is a scary team when they are on. Plus I didn't even mention James Gist, the most athletic player of them all.)

Upset: ODU over Butler

I'll be curious to see how some of these teams do vs Wisky if the officials let UW play their game(which I hate but understand the need for btw).

We're so conditioned to the B10 football in sneakers but a lot of teams, especially UNC/Kansas/Texas types, just don't get into many of those 50 point half court bloodbaths.

I could also make a case for each of those teams as well, but I think moreso Ga Tech...

I really like Purdue, but they really got a tough draw with Arizona who is a very scarry team IMO, could give Florida all they want in that second round...

that's something to consider. not only are these teams not used to playing this type of game, but most officiating crews won't allow it. i think the biggest issue is not how these teams play against it, but whether or not the officials will allow Wisco to play it.

along those same lines, i think the officiating in the B10 hurts us. if we get officials that call a tighter game than we are used to i think that will benefit our team.

I think a guy like Tucker could have a big tournament...He has been facing some very tough defenders in their losses, guys like Butler and Walton...

He could get a chance to show his skill and I think some are making a big deal about Wisky getting out rebounded without Butch. Stiemsma, Chappel, and Landry are good rebounders and when they have got out rebounded it has been against teams like us with Oden, Hunter and MSU who prides themselves on rebounding...

They could very well be an early exit, but Ryan is a great coach and they still have Tucker and he could be a matchup nightmare for some teams, and they could if they get by the winner of GaTech/UNLV winner give Oregon a tough game. Oregon is a team that wants to run and jack 3's and Wisky could slow the game down and be physical with them.

If it ends up being the 1 and 2 seed with Florida and Wisky I just don't see Wisky having the overall depth to match up with Florida. The matchup between the 3 permieter players would be even, but Florida would have the advantage in the paint with Noah and Horford...

For us I see it as a help.

Playing in the B10 all year is like playing with ankle weights on. When/if we get refs that call a game that more resembles basketball than football then it just lets our talented players play. Big advantage for us.

If not we are already used to that MSU/Wiksy thugball shit so we can play it if we have to. Not all teams can play both styles, we can.
