Bingo... The only way they wouldn't accept him is if he can't even get past the clearinghouse. That's why they set up the Kinesiology major...

I dunno, I found my Kinesiology and 'anatomy and physiology' classes to be pretty tough. If they're looking for nothing more then an easy major, they could find easier.

I'm all for bashing TSUN...but that is false.

I know it is fun to chuckle at, but this is not Bucknuts so I would hope we would avoid such garbage, esp. on the recruiting board.

The fact remains it was NOT created for athletes. Athletes on varsity squads at TSUN make up a small percentage of the kin. majors.

I hate to do this OSUBucks22 I like your contributions to this board, but I should correct you that this is false, Gibson wouldn't get in Michigan either, Grad is correct on his assement on why they're recruiting him hard.

Also there isn't a seperate school for the athletes vs regular kids I know Bill Conley said there is, but there isn't. The NCAA would throw a fit if that were the case. I know PA kids that went to Michigan, as well as their coaches and believe me if they take all the classes a regular student does.

Ok... thanks guys. I was going by some of what others told me and by what Coach Conley talked about. I had been informed that the Kinesiology major at scUM was like the Sports Management major (I think that is what it is) at Duke. The athletes could take that for an easier road. I wasn't trying to bash, I guess I had been given some erroneous info. Thanks for letting me know.
I do hope Gibson gets things together though. He has way too much talent to have it go to waste.

While this might be true, I remember reading an article that the % of athletes at scUM that major in Kin. is like 3 times higher (i might have made up that number, but it was significantly higher) than the % of the general student body that majors in this field.

This could be because the fact that they are athletes they are more interested in this field, you be the judge

Note the preponderance of business-related majors.... can you say real-life education? :) Something tells me this is going to get split off soon... Sorry mods.

Wow, 6 engineers. That's a surprise. Of course until you get into the major it's not that bad. Besides the 2 declared I assume the rest are Sophs or Freshman.

Separate debate....the initial post implied the major was created for athletes...there are over 800 students in the program...and only a handful of football players.

I don't like defending TSUN but I also think it is important to be accurate in our criticisms. The whole team could sign up for the program and they still would not be the majority and it wasn't set up to cater to athletes...virtually every school has a similar curriculum. Call it a fluff major if you like but lets not pretend it was set up to give TSUN an advantage on the football field.
