Medical Billing Question and some Bitchin

Does medical billing go on your credit report? I was told No but expect something to show up 7-8 months from now. Anybody know for sure?

OSU billed our insurance Company for our daughters birth with the Wrong name. The insurance company rejected the Bill because of this. This was Last Year. Since then we fought with OSU, sent them her birth cert and Social Security Card twice. They never fixed it.
They turned us over to some low level collection agency. I sent them the same Info. They never fixed it.
They turned us over to some higher level collection agency.

Today I was so angry I visited our attorney, then the OSU billing dept and saw a manager.

Turns out if any single person would have LOOKED at the account it was obvious they screwed up. It was listed under the correct name but billed wrong. I talked to at least 9 people who had the opportunity to fix the problem and didn't. Moreover they kept no notes on the account so it looked like we weren't responding at all. I don't think I've ever been more frustrated or angry in my life. Dealing with complete incompetence

I have a very common name and often get mixed up medical bills but nothing I haven't been able to straighten out. The worst was this tiny hospital in a former town we lived in. They screwed stuff all the time. It finally stopped when I talked to the chair of the hospital board, who I fortunately knew.

The worst screw up was receiving a notice my wife died. She was really pissed when she read it.

Not sure about what happens initially, but I'm sure that whenever anything goes to a collection agency,

a) it can't be good
and
b) it goes on your credit report.

The collection agency could care less why you owe the money. They just think that you do.

wow.. there's lots of people named BuckinMichigan in the USA?... go figure...

on the serious side... which I hate to use... you probably should do one of those free credit checks... to make sure none of these folks have made errors on your report.. you don't want to find out when you need the credit report to help you
