MBIT (Meyers-Brigg) & Enneagram of Personality.

SloopyHangOn

WhoO WhoO WhoO!
I'm really into behavioral analysis and have recently been delving into the professional applications of various schema and am on kind of a analytical kick so I thought I'd get a feel for what BPer's have to offer.

I'm just interested in how many of you have explored your "typing" at all.

Here is a good resource for determining your MBIT typing.

Here is one for determining your Enneagram profile.

I might also suggest The Enneagram Institute or 16 Personalities for further reading.

I am an INTJ (some call them the Mastermind/Architect/Scientist) on the MBIT and a 6w5 (Loyalist) on the Enneagram.

INFP/INTP depending on the test and my state of mind when taking it. I've done MBTI several times over the years due to my line of work.

We did MB once when I was working at ODOT years ago. I remember there being a big lead up to it, then after the test was done, nothing. I don't ever remember getting the results.

I'm an INFJ and 7w6 (enthusiast). I think the Enneagram type describes me better, except for being outgoing (I'm not).

I think the Enneagram is a better tool altogether.

It defines actionable metrics rather than assumed predispositions like a lot of typing (like the MB) does.

It also takes into account that people behave differently and exhibit different patterns of behavior, albeit within the context of their "normal", when they are in high stress or low stress situations.

I think it's interesting that many 7 types I know are social butterflies, but I've never thought about their outgoing persona as the central part of their "type". 7 types are about enjoying the world and its offerings despite all of its limitations.

What has your experience been seeing the typings acted upon in a professional setting?

I'm not of the camp that feels as if it's a Harry Potteresque "sorting cap" that determines where you "fit" best within a company, but I do think it can be a guide to those inclined to be "team leaders" on how things can get done more effectively.

I'm not in a leadership role, but I have seen it to be useful for understanding strengths an determining roles in collaborative situations.
