Parents: Dying Girl, 7, Taunted by Neighbors in Trenton


TRENTON, Mich. - Her family says 7-year-old Kathleen Edward is in the final stages of a degenerative brain disorder diagnosed as Huntington's Disease - the same disease which killed her mother, Laura, when she was only 24.

Neighbors Jennifer and Scott Petkov, who have been feuding with the family, admitted to posting grim depictions of Laura and Kathleen on Facebook. One photo depicts Laura in the arms of the grim reaper, while the other features Kathleen's face above a set of crossbones.

The couple also have a coffin hitched to a pick-up truck in front of the house, which they say is nothing more than a halloween decoration.

Police responded to the public feud Thursday, but no arrests were made.

The big question: why would someone do this? Police tell Ron Savage they have been called to this street before, dealing with long-standing "family-feud" issues.

A member of Kathleen's family says the bad blood started about two-years ago after the two families had a falling out over a birthday party at the Rose house. At the party kids were using a "bounce-house" and playing games in the front yard. The source says that Jennifer Petkov texted someone in the Rose family, asking if her kids could come to the event. A response to the text did not come quickly enough and it angered Jennifer.

According to the Rose family, she's been harassing them ever since.

i'm at a loss for appropriate words here. my emotions range between sadistic rage and sorrow. if you watch the video, i'm sure you'll feel the same way.

i hope and expect that 4chan will unleash its worst, which is what it does the best, on that pathetic couple. karma is a bitch.

How seriously fucked in the head do you have to be to harass a dying 7 year old girl?

Well, now that their mugs are out there I am willing to bet their own life starts turning into a living hell. Karma is gonna bite that slimy couple in the ass.

something tells me that when that father loses his daughter the same way he lost his wife, something might just happen too.

I'm not sure if this one is optimal for helping the family. 90% of the money is for buying toys at this guy's store for the little girl, or the Children's Hospital if she doesn't want them, and 10% goes to the family in cash. It's very nice of them, but I'd rather it all go directly to the family so they can use it as they see fit. Maybe for a giant fence.

I emailed the TV station to see if they can provide more information about donating.

It looks as though the monsters got tired of being in the news and did the apology thing.

i understand your point. however, if i'm between imperfect donation and doing nothing, i'll choose the former. i'm okay erring on the side of hasty help. perhaps a better charity will be set up later. perhaps the toy store owner will increase the percentage that goes to the family. i don't know. i just wanted to do something while my attention was grabbed.

the gentleman who owns the toy store has posted on reddit. he states that he will meticulously detail his actions and post them on the site. he will also donate an additional portion equal to the profit from the sales. of course, the proprietor will receive community goodwill, which i am more than okay with.

Yup, I edited because I don't want to discourage anyone from doing it this way. Not sure the station will have other information for us.

EDIT - The station sent the rally info rather than a mailing address, so they aren't reading the actual emails. Resent the request, but the toy store seems to be the best option for now.
