COLUMBUS ? A lifelong dream of playing for Ohio State was coming true for Jackson Haas, and the long-snapping specialist from Sidney Lehman High School wanted to share it with someone who had meant so much to him.

After first being rejected as a walk-on by the Buckeyes, playing at Ohio University for a year and then returning to OSU and finally making the team, Haas saw his first serious action in a game at Washington early this season in a contest televised on ESPN.

Haas, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound senior, finally prevailed in a spirited battle to become the Buckeyes' starting long-snapper on field goals and PATs beginning against Kent State on Oct. 13, reaching a goal he always knew was attainable, despite the odds.

"I think some of my friends thought I was crazy because I'd have them catch snaps for me day after day, but I always thought it could pan out," he said.
