Little Icons & Other Stuff

Maurice Clarett

Former Football Playa
Couple of questions about stuff I've never seen on a message board before.

What are those little, tiny icons to the right across from everyone's avatar? I see ribbons, logos, etc. What do they mean? How do I get them.

What are the little green, yellow, and red squares? Do those correspond to points? Are points just a messure of how many people have liked your posts?

How does one gold buckeye stickers over there?

you could start by changing your user name and avatar. you might get some positive rep then.

the stuff under 'give points to this user' represent reputation... you can give reputation for a user's post by clicking on the check/x button of the post.

The ribbons are awarded for contributions to BP, typically donations.

The logos are purchased in the vbplaza-menu, and represent your sports teams.

Do you get a positive reputation from helping others with their questions? :wink2:

Welcome to the board

You could; however the points aren't automatically awarded. Someone has to actually decide to give them by clicking on the in the upper right corner of the post. Anybody can give anybody else positive or negative reputation points. (i.e. If someone likes your comments and/or appreciates some help you gave them they may elect to give you positive points.) I think this thread slightly outdated; however it is still basically how it works.

Note: The red squares represent a "negative" reputation.

You can go to "User CP" on the top bar to see your actual number of points and who (last 10) gave them to you. The amount of points that you can give is proportional to how many you already have. (i.e. Someone with 6 gold buckeye leafs gives a lot more reputation points than someone with a couple green squares.)

So, when you guys say "buy." You can get and give those little icons using your points?

How do you get points?

And as far as reputation:

I can increase and decrease someone's reputation at any time?

Yes, and no... You could give me positive rep, for example, but you won't be able to rep me again (pos or neg) til you've repped enough other people.. that is, you can't rep someone repeatedly.

You get points by posting and by gambling (which now that football is upon us will get more action) and you also can get 100 points for ever $1.00 you donate to the site.. although, I think that's just during fundraisers.

I'm sure most new members have the same or similiar questions that Maurice Clarett has on the reputation system, vDollars/points/vBets, and buying gifts/icons/ribbons. Whoever is responsible for the FAQs (frequently asked questions) should update it to include an explaination of these features, etc.

Wasn't TG05 supposed to write something up for that? Swim practice must be a bitch this year, taking up all his time.
