i noticed the font on the nameplate is different than what is used now. do you know when and/or why they used this other font?

i've seen a pic that shows the back of wilhelm and nickey where the fonts don't match. do you know what's up with this?

i have absolutly no idea why the nameplate fonts are not the same as everybody else on the team. to be honest, i am suprised it is allowed. maybe somebody else can chime in with some insight.

LB Matt Wilhelm (official thread)

Matt has made 3-4 tackles, caused and recovered a fumble in the first quarter. BJ dropped a 42 yd punt down at the 2.

Nice to see former Bucks play well even if it is just preseason.

Sander NEEDS to be consistant. He had some great punts last pre season and then he would drop a 25 yarder the next time out. He needs to string together 10-15 very good punts to prove himself over the first few pre season games.... I think he can after having a year to get things under control.

Wilhelm is looking good.... he's finding the ball and seems to be in on almost every running play. I hope he proves himself and can get some serious playing time this year.

if Wilhelm plays like this the whole preseason, i don't see how they can keep him off the field... he has 4 solos, assisted on several other tackles, has a TFL, maybe two, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery... he also showed good awareness on an outlet pass on a 3rd down play, and hustled over to the sideline fast enough to ensure the receiver didn't pick up the first down... he's been around the ball all day...

i think he has played VERY well...

Sander has the leg... he needs to work on consistancy as was stated before, but the talent is there...

also, Alex Stepanovich played very well when he was in there... i didn't see him get beat by his man at all...

Olivea also looked good starting at RT for the Chargers.

Oh, I got such a great feeling watching Wilhelm playing like that. TFL's, fumble forced/recovered, getting the cryami RB behind the line.... then Sander dropping one on the 2.... is it September 3rd yet???

I think the Chargers would have liked to have one more OSU product on their team... that kicker really needed to Nuge it up a bit.
LMAO...you are so right... i can't believe that scrub Keading won the Groza Award over NUUUUUUGE in '02... well, at least NUUUUGE was a First Team All American...

This is a pretty good stat sheet, especially if you understand the circumstances. He is not usually a 3rd and long LBer, and SD faced tons of those situations often leaving him on the sidelines. He was all over the field, and near the ball tons of times where he wasn't the one who made the tackle.

LB Matt Wilhelm (official thread)

Not sure if there is a Wilhelm alumni thread already....

but Cleveland PD (Roger Brown) was speculating that the Brownies might be interested in Wilhelm, and the 4th round pick that they aquired for C. Crocker in trade with Atlanta would be needed if SD didn't match a competitive offer for Matt given that he is a restricted free agent.

Only speculation at this point, but the Browns sure are acquiring a lot of home grwon talent in free agent market thus far....
