LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF)

I'll bet you all my vCash/points that, barring injury, no way in hell does Homan replace Laurinaitis at SLB by conference start. No way. Most likely not at all, this year.

Hell, I'll throw 50k on Mili's side. No way at all does Homan "take" JL's spot at SAM.

By take I mean beat him out, no injury, no doghouse, no stupidity suspension (not that I think he would do that, he seems like a smart grounded kid).

JL is strong, you definitely can't hold two games worth of play his freshman year replacing an injured player against him (even if you assesment is bogus). Personally I think he held his own, Carp he aint (yet), but give him some time.

really don't understand all the never comments about HIM. He was in the top 6 as a freshmen at OSU with 3 getting drafted and the other 2 getting injured and he had to play in 2 big-games and got all positve talk from the staff about how well he played. Then after all that spring stuff when, Fickell said there were 8 players that stood out and they might have to play more with the starters. That alone said it right there.
I love the fact there are some serious competition going on but, he played as a true freshman and if you play as one at OSU you usually, play on sundays later on. He reminds me of the second coming of carpentar.

...because everyone is extremely spoiled right now. Arguably, the greatest trio of tOSU LBs has just left the program and people are expecting that high level of play this season.

Ain't happening...at least not right away. The level of play will be satisfactory at first and excellent later on, but that is going to be due to a two-headed beast of experience gained and a DL that will allow the LBs to get that extra step they will need.

The importance of a DL to LBs? Big Kat as a frosh to Big Kat as a soph. Still great...but not AS great.

very true, beside those 3 stars gone. the only thing this group of lb'ers have that last year's didn't is the depth of talent. All those coming back, got one year in there blood and those 5 new players might look great but, need some time to prove it.

One thing they have this year, is Pitcock eating up the middle. I still can't remember a dt/ng having so many tackles or plays like he did . I think he's the best DT/NG we've had since big daddy and that says a lot.
With PITCOCK,patterson and the depth of the DE'S they can make that change look easy. Onething for sure, they can only help the new LB'ERS turning into the next stars.

I'd say Laurinaitis and Freeman are the two "givens" at LB (barring suspension, etc.). If Homan beats out anybody for a starting job this year, it'll be Kerr.

right here was the point I was trying to make, I dont see Kerr starting all year, Homan will start this season some time! Laurinatis is good (maybe a stated something wrong)?? Whatever happens the best player should start and whoever that is, I still think the Defense is going to be tough again for another 3 or 4 years.

Let the best player play. if that fifth-year senoir is holding the defense back and the true freshman can step in, make the difference, then he should play. I want to see the best players on the field no matter how old they are.

Lets face it, all the LB's on the roster are grood or they would not be here. Kerr had everything paid for at IU plus a starting postition, he gave that up to come to tOSU. If that move pays off for him or not, we will see.

If Kerr was "holding the defense back" he wouldn't be #1 on the depth chart, now would he?

The season has not started yet, Has it??? Depth Chart? whatever. Things change once you start to get game time experience. Nobody knows what will happen during a game. Anybody could fail.

The depth chart can be a joke. Coachs change things or mover people around one week, and two weeks later they could change them agian.

whatever, let the best player play. Tressel loves the seniors yes i agree there. He also knows what is going to be better for the team.
