Agreed on both points.

Doubt that we will see the team lose a substantial portion of their lead the rest of the way.
Animal will not let them of easy.

(And yes, I'm getting rid of the Lil' modifier).

During the first half I was reminded of my favorite Buckeye out on the field this time wearing #33 instead of #36. The guy just has a knack of being everywhere the ball is. They made a comment during the game that JL has no wasted movement. I agree. He see's the ball and attacks. He's also great in coverage. The Kurt Coleman play deep down the middle, Laurinaitis was step for step with the TE. Awesome.

Last year:
Defensive Tackles were Quinn Pitcock and David Patterson, with this year's DTs providing depth.

Defensive Tackle position has had a M*A*S*H unit's worth of injuries.

Production out of the MLB position has increased. All defensive numbers have improved, including differential numbers so don't even start talking about schedule strength.

And it's the same guy at MLB. Only bigger, stronger, faster and smarter; or at least that's the way he's playing.

Imagine what our defense would be like at full-strength. I'm quivering with fear/joy at the thought. That would probably be the only advantage to a 51 day lay-off for a certain bowl game in New Orleans - getting our guys fully healed up.

Seven linebackers, five defensive backs and five defensive linemen have been named as quarter-finalists for The 2007 Lott Trophy, presented by The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation of Newport Beach, Ca. Eight different conferences are represented on the list along with one independent school, Notre Dame. In its fourth year, The Lott Trophy honors the college football Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year. The student-athlete is judged on both his on-field performance and his off-field performance. The Lott Trophy is the only sports award based on personal character and is appropriately named after the legendary defensive back, Ronnie Lott. Previous winners were David Pollack of Georgia; DeMeco Ryans of Alabama; and Daymeion Hughes of Cal.

That's off the top of my head. Laurinaitis might be the best LB in the country and I think he's top 5, but to say he's by far the best is far fetched

Sorry, but until he learns his basic blocking assignments, he has no business being on that list.

From a linebacking standpoint, he sure does.

Crable: 53 tackles, 19.5 TFL for 56 yards, 5.5 sacks for 29 yards, 1 PBU, 2 QBH, 3 FF. 1 FR

Laurinaitis: 63 tackles, 5.5 TFL for 23 yards, 4.0 sacks for 22 yards, 1 PBU, 0 FF, 0 FR, 2 INT

So Laurinaitis has 10 more tackles than Crable and 2 more picks, while Crable has 14 TFL more, 1.5 sacks more, 3 FF more, and 1 FR more. So why would Crable not have any business being on a list of best LB in the country? Aside from the obvious Ohio State bias? Special teams blocking has nothing to do with Shawn's LB ability

Crable would have more TFL/FF/Sacks when he plays defensive END as well... He's used much more as a rush end than a linebacker. Blitz Animal off the edge and lets see what kind of stats he has. If we're talkin straight linebacker play then yes Crable has no business being on the list, but if we're talkin Linebacker/lineman then Crable can be thrown in.

Also how the hell does PSU have two linebackers on that list???? If they're going to do that then you should also throw in Marcus Freeman because I'd take him over either of Lee/Connor anyday! If a PSU backer wins the award this year it'll be another crime.... Poz over Hawk was an embarressment.
