LB Coach James Laurinaitis (2x B1G DPOY, 2006 Nagurski, 2007 Butkus, 2008 Lott, 3x All-American, OSU HOF, National Champion)

HOT DAMN !!! This is a GREAT addition to the Buckeye family! James sure will do well in this system and he will be all over the Field in the Shoe. With Hoobler, Freeman, Laurinaitis, and all of the other great talents at LB, it sure seems like no OSU opponent will want to go through the middle ever again!! Imagine if OSU signs Rico too ... Oh my!!! Now that's another amazing LB crew. Then imagine this LB crew backed up by the Tarblooder crew in the defensive backfield ... OH MY the hits Ohio State Fans will behold in the very near future !!!

Congratulations and welcome to the Ohio State Buckeye family James!!!

p.s. Coach Snyder is feeling alot more comfortable and confidant now that he has this season under his belt (except for the Bowl game of course). It's going to be interesting to see how the defense evolves in the coming years with all this talent. It looks pretty good too me. He sure made some good adjustments against tsun.

Laurinaitis Stays With Buckeyes
By Duane Long
Date: Dec 19, 2004

A published report earlier in the week stated that linebacker James Laurinaitis of Plymouth, Minn. had decided not to take a visit to the University of Minnesota and chose to stay with Ohio State. We contacted James a short time ago to confirm he did not take the trip, and it sounds indeed like he is solid with the Buckeyes.

Earlier in the week, linebacker James Laurinaitis of Plymouth, Minnesota was thinking about taking his originally scheduled visit to the University of Minnesota even after committing to OSU. But late in the week, a report surfaced that Laurinaitis cancelled his trip. We caught up with him a short time ago to confirm he is staying with the Buckeyes.

"No, I did not go (to Minnesota)," he said. "I'm done."

Laurinaitis has struck up a friendship with fellow Buckeye commitments Austin Spitler, Rob Schoenhoft and Todd Denlinger.

"Yeah, we got to know each other well," he said. "As soon as I committed, I called Austin and Rob and Todd. And I called Chad Hoobler too."

Right now, Laurinaitis is focused on his hockey season.

"We're 8-0 right now," he said. "We have three tough games in a row. It'll tell us a lot about ourselves."

As for football, he said that there is one more all-star game left up in Minnesota. While on the subject, he also said he knew about the Big 33 game between Ohio and Pennsylvania.

"Yeah, we do have an all-star game up here in the spring," he said. "Yeah, Austin Spitler, Rob Schoenhoft, Todd Denlinger and I were talking about (the Big 33)."

Of course, as many fans know by now, Laurinaitis' father is a celebrity as he was part of the tag team Legion of Doom/The Road Warriors in the pro wrestling ranks.

"Yeah, Animal is my dad," Laurinaitis said. "He was in pro wrestling. My uncle is Johnny Ace. He's still with the WWE. He is not a wrestler; he works behind the scenes. Storylines and such."

Laurinaitis stands as the 14th commitment to this year's Ohio State recruiting class. He is rated as one of the top ten overall prospects in the state of Minnesota.

THERE WAS A GATHERING at Wayzata High School on Monday morning to honor linebacker James Laurinaitis as "Mr. Football." This came as a shock to the Minnesota High School Football Coaches Association. Its luncheon Feb. 13 will honor Minnesota's first-ever Mr. Football. It will be in conjunction with the annual Nike Coaches Clinic.

As it turns out, the honor Laurinaitis received was the Sun-Sailor Newspapers "Mr. Football," for the suburban schools covered by those weekly newspapers. Laurinaitis is among the 10 finalists to be voted on by the coaches for their award.

Laurinaitis has committed to Ohio State, where his combination of size (6-3, 235), toughness and intensity could remind Buckeyes followers of late-'90s middle linebacker Andy Katzenmoyer.

BSB:

Laurinaitis had a visit from Tressel Wednseday evening and says he is still a Buckeye. Tressel also visited Ashley who is still uncommitted.

Laurinaitis says he talks to Ashley and it is a possibility he ends up at tOSU.

Tressel talked with Laurinaitis' mom and she liked him alot.
His mom asked a few questions about everything that's been going on. Tressel said that for the most part it was bad decisions by (Maurice Clarett) and that it looks worse than it is. :)

Welcome visitor

I'm hoping he reminds us more of Chris Spielman or AJ Hawk.

When I think of Andy Katzenmoyer, I think of Max Power from The Simpsons.

M: From now on kids, there are three ways to do things: the right way, the wrong way, and the Max Power way!

B: Isn't that the wrong way?

M: Yeah, but FASTER!

Here is a new picture from his BSB article if nobody has seen one lately.
Great article on Tressel's in home visit (with a small update on Ashley as well, thought nothing real major is stated about him)
I cannot not wait to see this kid play for us!!! He is a future stud, there is no doubt about it.

With the recent upgrades of Amos, L.Wilson, R.Williams (now 4 stars) and McCarthy (now a 3 star) on Rivals/BSB, maybe now that James is getting more offers by more top notch programs he will become a 4 star LB?
