LB Baron Browning (Arizona Cardinals)

Believe that Werner did a very creditable job last year for the Buckeyes. Also believe that Browning will do that job even better. He's quicker and faster than Pete, who will solidify the inside. Methinks it's a great move for both of these players. We'll see.....go Bucks!

ZACK: BARON BROWNING EARNS FIRST-TEAM ALL-B1G HONORS

After three years of being misused as a Mike linebacker, we’re finally going to see the full potential of Browning’s skillset. Browning will win the starting job and make it hard for the Buckeyes to pull him off the field, as his versatility will shine while being used all over the field as a pass rusher, run stopper and coverage guy. We’re going to see a rejuvenated, more comfortable Browning this season, with the former five-star recruit blowing up and leading Ohio State’s linebackers in sacks and competing for the league lead in sacks and tackles-for-loss among linebackers. He’s going to jump from honorable mention All-Big Ten linebacker to a first-teamer and make a case for the Big Ten’s Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award.

FIVE WHO FLASHED: JUSTIN FIELDS, NICHOLAS PETIT-FRERE, GARRETT WILSON HELPED OHIO STATE BEAT RUTGERS

BARON BROWNING

Dating back to his high school days, Baron Browning has always been most effective when charged with making plays in space. So, what did he do on Saturday? Made plays in space.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pound senior linebacker secured five tackles, flying all over the field to do so. A former five-star recruit, he looked more at home in his new strongside linebacker position than in either of the first two games. Browning brought down five Rutgers ball-carriers, which included a tackle for loss.

This is the type of performance the Buckeyes need from their starting Sam moving forward.

Baron Browning is rising as expected. He is an active, rangy linebacker that will provide Buffalo with some of the coverage help they have lacked.

Just sayin': Kind of surprised to see him projected as a 1st rounder, i.e. #28.

I was a bit surprised too, but I think Baron makes a lot more sense in a 3-4 scheme at OLB. I think he’s flashing that potential this year. He’s not always in right spot, or making the right play, but his ability jumps off screen.

He seems like a Pittsburgh Steelers type OLB to me.....

This year would have been a perfect year to mix in some 3-4 also with Browning, Werner, Hilliard and Borland out there and the DE position not lighting it up. Move over the 3T and a NG with a DE and bring the noise off the edge with LB combo. Yeah I can see Browning terrorizing in that scheme.

I love our LBs... I hope Hilliard and Browning come back.

Although I know Browning has committed to a post game

FWIW, this year Hilliard is the very rare 6th year Senior, if we had played scUM he could have been the 1st player in Buckeye history to get 6 pairs of gold pants. I will go out on a limb here and say it is very unlikely he comes back for a 7th year. Needless to say, at some point in every college football player's life it is time to move on to "life after college football" and Hilliard is undoubtedly at that point now.
