i'll try not to ding you for saying such a thing about conan. :mad2:

i went to a taping of his show a couple years ago. it's amazing how the camera angles and studio design mislead the viewers into thinking that the set is much larger than it is. it's tiny. the band is right next to where conan does his monologue. i was so close to the band that i could have reached one of them from my seat.

the funniest part of the show might have the preshow. conan came out and talked to the crowd for a few minutes. the setup guy was downright hilarious, too. those who watch conan would recognize this guy, brian mccann:

I think Conan is horrible...he has the stupidest damn jokes on TV....

And, if he takes over from Leno, he will not last in that earlier slot more than two years. A lot of people just think he just isn't funny in the Boomer segment and that will be the major viewership at that time.

Leno and Conan are all we get in South Africa. Neither enjoys much viewership and are on after midnight. I asked the local provider why we couldn't get Letterman instead but the tie-up is MSNBC, so that is that.

Conan is an excellent writer and he made Leno look good for years. Geez, that Star Wars segment is just about the funniest late night TV I ever saw. I just don't think he matches the boomers well.

though true, the boomer generation is just about to move out of the broad key demographic of 18-49 and is already far from the more lucrative demographics of 18-24 and 18-35. not everyone likes leno and not everyone likes letterman. it will likely take a little time for conan to build his audience.
