IMO, yes he does. He wasnt drafted high enough to have a great reputation to have vaulted him to the top of anyones depth chart. He also gets picked up by 2 teams that had their starting QBs set in their minds. The Bears wanted Grossman to start but he got hurt, Bengals wanted Palmer to start so he did and didnt live up to his expectations (and are now anxious to see any difference this year)...

He will have some bumps on the way, but I feel he may get a starting backup position shortly and we will judge from there. NFL players pride themseleves on their stats and we all know Krenzel didnt have the best of those, so if he can get himself settled with a team, get in their rythem and hone his skills he will do fine.

Rex Grossman is the Bears' messiah at QB, Chad Hutchinson has been the #3 since he signed (except for the cases where injuries vault him to starter) and might be there again this season with Blake and Orton ahead of him.

Krenzel doesn't need to play in the N.F.L. with his degree he has, which I'd really like to see him prosper in the league. If he is a backup in Cinci that will be just fine.

maybe he will get some playing time but I really thinkk Graig is not really pressed all that much

depends on what you mean by "Does Krenzel have a future in the NFL?"

will krenzel get the opportunities needed to and does he have the skill to be a hall of famer? imo, no.
does krenzel have what it takes to even be a long term starter? imo, no.
does krenzel have the ability to play as a 2nd or 3rd string guy for 5 - 10 years? absolutely.

personally i consider that as being a "future" in the nfl. other opinions may vary. krenzel became a buckeye god not because he was an increadibly gifted athlete that we all thought would excell at the next level. he did so because he was an intelligent and gutsy kid who didn't know how to loose. he made more plays with his feet than with his arm and didn't mind putting his body on the line when he did run. lets face it, the nfl isn't college. you can't go helmet to helmet in the nfl like you can in college and expect to have anything resembling a long or... memorable career. pardon the pun =P. krenzel falls into a no mans land in the pros. he isn't a drop back passer who can light up defenses with his arm like manning. he isn't a guy who is going to make lb's look stupid like vick. he's an everyday guy who plays with more heart than talent. because of that he will make rosters. because of that he won't be "the guy".

Casey Bramlet, a second-year quarterback, was released as the Bengals decided to keep Craig Krenzel as their third quarterback.
The Bengals claimed Krenzel off waivers from the Chicago Bears on June 20 to compete for the third-string job, backing up Carson Palmer and Jon Kitna. Krenzel was a two-year starter at Ohio State, leading the Buckeyes to a national title.
He went 15-for-34 for 186 yards and a touchdown in the preseason for a below-average passer rating of 59.2.
Bramlet did much better, going 11-for-17 for 103 yards with a pair of touchdowns and a rating of 120.5, well above average. The Bengals drafted Bramlet in the seventh round last year, but he didn't play as a rookie.

I'm sure Krenzel has no complaints makin a million dollars a year (or whatever the figure is) sitting on the bench wearing a headset. As everyone knows, he has his degree to fall back on so he's got a great situation going on.

3rd string QB in the NFL has got to be one of the best jobs in the world. Somebody's baisically gotta die for you to actually have to play and with craig's IQ he knows the playbook inside out.

He gets paid big bucks to play catch a few hours a week and watch an NFL game from the sideline every Sunday. He's never going to get dirty, much less hurt...good things happen to good people sometimes.
